Summer Sun Dresses and May Plans

When I was in high school, I had only to shorten my patterns and they mostly fit. Now in my sixties, I have a rounded back, a sway back, a full abdomen, a full bust (not to mention lowering the darts), etc, etc, etc! But, I am grateful that I am finally learning to sew to fit. I gave up garment construction for many years. Because of you-tube videos I learned how adjustments can be made and I'm now excited to make my clothes again. Thank you for your part in my journey.

The Pembroke turned out so nice! Thank you for mentioning you lowering the ties - I’ll definitely have to keep that in mind if/when I make a top with this pattern. Can’t wait to see what fabric you go with for the shirtdress!

Hi Carol, first off all I’m glad you embraced the Orange! 👏🏼👏🏼 You seem more joyous with your makes with these bolder prints. Not surprised you didn’t like the dress with the little ditsy floral, it doesn’t hold a candle to the other prints you are now using. I’m so glad you are featuring some Cashmerette patterns. I have the Pembroke and just haven’t made it but it looked so good on you, I might have to give it a try (I’m not normally a dress girl).

Your dress is so pretty! I think the New Look one will be as well. I'm looking for the right shirtdress pattern for me as I have some grayish-beigey linen/rayon with a faint green palm print that I think would be great but am suffering from "analysis paralysis" when it comes to all the options versus the body I am presently in, ha, ha! I'll be very interested to see how your shirtdress turns out! In the meantime I am finishing some coasters and microwave bowls made from Grateful Dead fabric for our nephew - they're guaranteed to fit.

Lol - I know what you mean about analysis paralysis! But don't give it any more thought. Just jump in and get started. You know you'll start feeling good about it once you start! Your fabric sounds really cool; as does your Grateful Dead coasters! Let me know how your nephew likes them.
