So disappointing to hear they had no larger size garments to try on especially as their patterns are available in a wide size range. Glad you had a good time and that initial experience did not stay with you throughout the retreat. Love both things you made there and love that you all stayed together.

Thank Izzy! I'm looking forward to Charlotte too. Have you decided on what you're going to make/wear?

Of course you should make an evening gown for Frocktails. I wish I could go to one, but there are none even remotely close to me. I'd definitely make an evening gown for it

Not sure what that is but sounds fun🎉

@beverlyosborn5240 It's a gathering of garment sewists (usually once a year, that can be organized anywhere in the world by anyone) where they have sort of a party and everyone wears something they have sewn that they are proud of. Some are very formal and fancy, like ball gowns and tuxes, and some are more casual, where participants can wear anything they have sewn. They tend to have a runway to show off everyone's special garment that they have sewn, if you choose to walk in front of everyone. Often there are prizes, and there tend to be food and drinks, and sometimes dancing, but always lots of socializing and making of new friends. There is generally a cost involved to cover expenses and occasionally a donation to a chosen charity. I've never been able to go, but they do sound like fun.

Hi Linda! I get what you mean about not having any Frocktails near by. I'm on the west coast and going to one in the east. Luckily for me, it corresponds with a vacation we had planned. I wish there were more sewing events/groups in my area, but they are all quilt events/groups. Any suggestions on an evening gown pattern?

Hi Carol, if I may make a suggestion--I always write down on the pattern pieces what alterations i make so I can remember what I did, and I also include a little post-it in the pattern envelope with changes I need to make to the pattern should I decide to sew it again in the future. it has saved me so many times. i would probably keep multiple sizes just like you in case my weight fluctuates, but if you had the note you would know what size you made most recently. just a thought.

Thanks for the tip, Sara. I actually do make notes on my patterns - now. I usually trace my patterns so I write notes on them as to what size, any adjustments I made, etc. But this is a pattern I made a couple of years ago and hadn't started that practice yet. 😞But I've learned my lesson.

Hey Carol, we must be on the same wavelength. I’ve got linen shorts cut out and I’m trying out the Seamwork Otto vest. Linen is definitely my jam. I’m going to the Charlotte Frocktails; hope we get a chance to meet. Your white linen dress is really lovely on you! The look you put together makes it stunning. 🤩 I need to rewatch the video to catch what I might have missed the first time. 😊😊😘 Sew with joy! Oh…can’t wait to see you modeling your shorts out of that fab fabric!

Oh my goodness, Lynn! Where are you on your Otto vest? I finished my Miller waistcoat this weekend, but think I'll take in the sides just a bit (under the arms). It's an OK waistcoat, but I think I want to try something more fitted so I'm going to try and cut out the Birch vest by Pattern Scout this weekend. I'm so glad you're going to Frocktails! and yes, I hope we get a chance to meet! I'm scared I'll be standing there all by myself with no one to talk to. Let me know how you linen outfit turns out!

@@pollysews I’ve cut out the Otto vest, but I think it will be boxier than I like. I bought the Birch vest after you showed it. It looks more my style. I love the scooped neckline on that one, too. 😘. I need to finish my prototype of a memory bear before sewing any more for myself. Fitting embroidery on the foot pads has been challenging. You won’t be standing by yourself, Carol. I’ll be looking for you and others I see on KZbin . We should exchange phone numbers before the event so we can be sure to find each other!
