For the new fishers. For lake fishing with a bottom rig. Try covering the hook with power bait instead of a worm. Floats 2 feet ish off the bottom. Fish swim and it’s right in front of them. Perfect for windy days

Ever use steelhead corkies? I peg one with a toothpick about an inch up from the baitholder hook. Certain places I use this when the bite is hot for very violent takes.

What is the rest of your life like? do you go to school? do you have a job? are you independently wealthy? and will you share any other information that might be interesting about you? thank you
@SamongOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Much appreciated! I don't know if there's really anything interesting about me but to answer your questions. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing back in 2020. KZbin is currently my "job" so it's what helps pays the bills for now. I am nowhere near rich as you can imagine why I still drive a Toyota Camry in places where people are only willing to take trucks haha. It's been a very interesting journey on KZbin and new opportunities keep arising so I'm just keeping my foot on the pedal for now.

Do you set your drag lighter when you dead stick your rods so the fish can take the bait and run with it? I'm trying to decide if I should buy a bait feeder reel or not. The type of reel with two drags. Thoughts?
@SamongOutdoors Жыл бұрын
No, I just set my drag to one setting and keep it like that. I don't really let fish run with the bait usually.

Been following you for a while. Your videos have always been good but it’s been great to see how much better they have gotten regarding the editing. Questions: 1) what do you use for a cheat pack for fishing (I fly fish and currently using a vest; too heavy) and 2) what kind of head lamp do you use for fishing/hunting? Thanks.

Thank you so much! I don't really use a chest pack for fishing because I often have my Go Pro strapped to my chest. Instead, I just carry all my tackle in my backpack. As for my headlamp, I've been using the Fenix HL60R but I want to get the PEAX Backcountry Duo headlamp next.

@Samong Outdoors, surprised you're not using "happy hookers" worms. They're from your (our) general area and tend to be nice little fatties and survive well

Extra spools for spinning reels are not expensive and you can change line easily. Also, a worm blower comes in handy.

You broke 2 laws on camera. 1. Releasing any pike minnow is illegal. 2. You released a fish that was caught on bait. It is illegal to release fish that was caught on bait.
@UpNorthOutWest2 жыл бұрын
you're wrong, twice... releasing pike minnow is not illegal there is not a single law stating this in Washington state regs. However you are advised to kill them in the Columbia river (that's why there is a bounty on them) but this for the Columbia & snake river ONLY. everywhere else (unless stated other wise) you're supposed to release them. they're native to Washington and belong here. They only cause problems in major river systems with dams. and second it is not illegal to release fish you caught with bait. it does count towards your limit though and thats only for trout.
@SamongOutdoors2 жыл бұрын

@@UpNorthOutWest, you are spot on. Just adding that it’s northern pike that they want us to kill and not return to the water, because it’s an invasive species.
