Thanks! This is just footage that I took for fun while hiking, but I thought it turned out well! I even got to try out a 5.7mm lens for this (the ultra-wide FOV stuff including the forest canopy shots) It was all scanned on my 6.5K Lasergraphics of course

Amazing open shoots Flinn! Which lenses are you use it for? Maybe a 10mm Rx kern Switar lenses ? Thanks a lot.

I used the 10mm, 16mm, 25mm, and 50mm Switar lenses, and from about the 1:10 minute mark the rest of it was all shot on a 5.7mm Kinoptik

where did you get your bolex converted? how do you find the 10mm works on super 16? did it vignette much?
@negativespacefilmlab2 жыл бұрын
I bought this Bolex already converted, but I actually got a REX-5 recently that I had converted by Abdul in New York and I've been really happy with that camera

What camera model is this? And would you recommend it for beginners?
@negativespacefilmlab2 жыл бұрын
This was a Bolex Reflex, converted to Super16. I do generally recom at a mend Bolex cameras (at least the reflex variety) to beginners, but they can be hard to find at a decent price

Thanks! I've been having a ton of fun with the Super16 Bolex recently. Hopefully I can find some time to write something for a short film soon, but I've been so busy with the production and archival scanning that I've been running in my studio

I am rather new to shooting 16mm and was wondering if you have any tips for how I can get my Bolex footage to come out looking like this? These colors seem to have a lot more 'pop' and 'professional' look to them than what I've gotten so far. Should I expect quality like this with a timed color correction right out of the lab, or does it take additional post processing work to get a look like this?

There are many reasons footage might not quite look as good as you'd like, ranging from the exposure and lenses to the film stock used to the quality of the laboratory processing and finally to the scanning quality. I can help you out with most of these things in more detail if you contact me directly, including providing high quality processing and scanning for you: www.thenegative.space
