Wayne, thinking more about those nice pollack you caught, I remembered Wednesday 29th July 1981! Why you may ask. Three reasons why. Firstly, it was a beautiful, hot sunny day, and me and my mate Peter Smith (who sadly passed away a few years ago) took our boat out of Langstone into the Solent where we mainly trolled back and forth for bass. We caught a good few, and took four nice ones home. But we also caught a few good pollack too (not as nice as yours) and we took four of those home too. Secondly, we came across a boy about 10 years old drifting out on a lilo. We got him on board and took him back to Hayling Island. He pointed out his parents on the beach, and they were both asleep and had no idea what had happened! Thirdly, and it's the reason I can pinpoint the exact date, it was the day Prince Charles married Lady Di, and we all had a day off work (best thing to come out of that marriage if you ask me 🙂). Ahh, happy days.
