100% true. Any tout, criminal, dropout, thief can & actually do rule Nigeria_Nigerians cos we do NOT understand the concept of holding ppl accountable. That is why airport officials can be saying, "you people who live abroad"; cos they're bitter, angry, frustrated with their lives; they cannot blame the corrupt leaders they put their to oppress them; instead they blame you, an innocent person who escaped all that frustration & "left" them behind!

The airport is one place were the miserable are able to showcase their power. One small girl insulted me a few years ago. It is not my fault I got an education, live with a husband and family aboard. Its not my fault I have options. I definitely understand my privilege but our Airport staff at home can't hide their jealousy. Very wicked bunch. no one here should try to tell me different. they are mostly jealous, uninformed, lousy and hot behind the neck. Even if the facts are staring them in the face, intimidation is what gives their lives meaning. So unfortunate.

99% of Nigerians are frustrated, bitter & unhappy. Unfortunately they go nowhere else to go except to live in corrupt, crumbling country. Whenever they get the chance to chg their situation & rulers, they mess it up. So the frustration levels continue. At the end of the day, a people deserve the leaders they get cos Nigerians condone, encourage, accept corruption especially if the thief is from their ethnic group/brother/family/friend.

People in the airport pulling at me to get my luggage so that they can be paid. People asking me for my dollars to change out my money. It was so chaotic in the airport. No control whatsoever. @huguettenmukendi7220. To save yourself from any embarrassment when coming back from Nigeria to the USA. If you are travelling to Nigeria with an expired Nigerian Passport , you have the right to come in without any issue. But when you are coming back, make sure that the same expired Nigerian passport is renewed in Nigeria otherwise you don't have any right to leave Nigeria with a USA passport which had no Nigerian visa stamped in it. The best thing is to obtain the Nigerian visa in your USA Passport in the US before travelling to Nigeria with it or with your expired Nigerian Passport. I shall be traveling to Nigeria from the UK in June 2024, I have a British Passport and an expired Nigerian Passport so I'm going to obtain the Nigerian visa in my British Passport before travelling to Nigeria. I think it's about £300 or so for the visa. I will try to renew my Nigerian passport in Nigeria and I don't even have the NIN yet but if I cannot renew it within my 2 weeks stay, I can "jejely" return back to the UK with my British Passport which has a Nigerian visa in it...summer is very lucky that the immigration officers used their discretion to allow her to travel back to Ireland with an Irish passport which had no Nigerian visa in it.
@ninadims28695 ай бұрын
Nne m the people asking you why you don’t renew are missing the point!!! The point here is that the new law allows people abroad to use their EXPIRED Nigerian passport to travel to Nigeria (with NO EXCEPTIONS/CONDITIONS attached to it). You would have broken the law if you were trying to leave the country with an expired Nigerian passport that has no visa. So, traveling out of Nigeria with your valid foreign passport is NOT illegal. You did NOTHING wrong and thank God you knew your rights and that’s all you needed. Nigerians don’t like questions. I question people all the time! We need to make questioning okay as that’s the reason why our politicians keep fooling us because they don’t expect us to ask them questions because they are the “elders”

It’s your right to take stuff approved by the airline and country you are going to but naija airport will rather shove their rights to take what you have spent your hard earned money on home than to see you travel with them. Did you start the renewal of your passport before traveling tho, either in your foreign country or in Nigeria?
@Godsplan4ever5 ай бұрын
This lady, it's like you're not being reasonable. I'm a Nigerian living abroad too. Now, the federal government gave us the grace to travel into Nigeria even though our passports are expired, that's respect to us, the citizens abroad. But you should be reasonable enough to know that that grace covers your arriving in your home land,. No citizen of any county can leave his or her county to travel to another country with an expired identification document like passport. Secondly, even if you have become a foreign citizen of any country abroad and have your passport with you, you cannon leave your home country for your foreign country unless you had obtained a Visa on that passport from your home country's consulate abroad to travel into your home country, if the foreign country is not visa- free to your home country. So if you're in your home country having utilized the to grace to come in with your expired Nigerian passport, then while leaving, trying to present your foreign passport at the Nigerian immigration as your traveling document becomes a criminal offense, if there is no valid visa on that foreign passport, or if there is no visa at all on it. So it's either you renew your Nigerian passport in Nigeria before traveling back, or you will be detained or denied traveling right. This is as simple as A B C D. Except the Nigerian authority authorizes the Nigerians with dual citizenship to come into Nigeria without Visa in their foreign passport, even though that country is not Visa free to Nigeria.

Oh please, go and educate yourself! Such long and meaningless analysis filled with flaws and sentiments. Summer made a video to defend her stance, with facts, but you chose to come under it to showcase yourself as a clear example of why Nigeria is as bad as it is! Being bold and ready to defend oneself before an ignorant law enforcement officer is not being unreasonable. The law clearly has a loophole: it states that you can be admitted but nowhere does it clarify that you will need a renewed passport to leave the country as a dual citizen. She had the right to leave to her destination with the passport of that said destination and a Nigerian immigration officer has no right to hold or delay her exit based of nonexistent laws that he and people like yourself had made up.

What makes your foreign passport recognised in Nigeria as your SOLE travel document in or out of Nigeria is when you have a Valid Visa on it, otherwise it implies your entry or exit is illegal. Having an expired passport and not having at least evidence of renewal in progress while EXITING Nigeria means you wish to be recognised entirely as a foreign citizen. So its expected that you should have a Visa on your foreign passport. Since you said you already knew you wouldn't be renewing your Nigerian passport before leaving Nigeria, you could have applied for a Visa on arrival when you arrived Nigeria.

@@ment4her Why don't you show the law that states you can use an expired passport in and OUT of Nigeria at will without trying to use renew it? I suppose she should not even bother to renew her Nigerian passport at all because where is the law that says she should when she can travel in and OUT of Nigeria with it in perpetuity? If you detest Nigeria so much that you don't even MAKE AN ATTEMPT to renew your passport, why travel with a Nigerian passport in the first place? Just get a dammn visa on your UNEXPIRED foreign passport and travel as the citizen of that country without hassle. But some Nigerians will be doing the most.

Any evidence? I can take it up if you have a genuine evidence. The more will blackmail this country on internet, the more we would all surfer for it in any country we found ourself. We can't eat our cake and still have it, no wonder we always treated differently in many immigration control bothers all over the World.

When dealing with this type of people, stick to the law. By so doing, they will have nothing to harass you with. If you applied for 2 weeks visa, stick to that because you are entering the country as a foreigner.

I know from my experience long ago, that they do not allow you to carry things like powdered milk, pounded yam powder and similar foods in your hand luggage, but when in checked-in luggage no wahala. However to date l do not know the rational behind it as l never asked. I just avoid their wahala when they said its the law. The first time l experienced it with powdered milk and something else, l don't quite remember now in my carry-on, they took them away from me at the security point. Those ladies are so mean and confrontational.

@@godwinella No, because you're leaving the country, you only need to show that you have a valid visa or documents for where you're going. You're already at the airport of Nigeria and not going into Nigeria, therefore you don't need to show any Nigerian visas or documents. It's like getting deported for not having valid documents when you're leaving said country? Doesn't add up.

Hi Summer I watch your videos but am not from Nigeria. I feel like the immigration were right on time this. You can’t enter the country as Nigerian then leave as British/ Irish. And why did you think it would take 2 weeks to renew your passport not only in your country but a long African countries it may take weeks/ months to renew passport. I feel that you should have done your homework before you left. You either needed to have a visa or used your English passport it’s that simple. They could have definitely not have allowed you to travel until you sort out your passport. But I like that you enjoyed your time back home.

Even in Britain it can take more than two weeks to renew passport unless you pay for fast track.

This is not what the Nigerian immigration law says. Please don't mislead/misinform people. There is no Nigerian Law or policy that validates what you saying. It is not true
