i know this is kind of irrelevand, but what's the song the kid plays (piano) at arount 7:00 in the video ?

This is great...but every child should know basic history, should know how to read and write, and should be exposed to different ideas and different subjects to some degree. Letting a child do whatever he or she wants should be encouraged and supported, but they should also be required to at least have a basic knowledge of music, art, history, literature, etc.

You clearly miss the point of this school. Children learn all those things without going through the forced-compulsory school system we all know.

But what about reading and writing and maths? How are these children going to survive in the real life.
@stfnba6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ella, I think that they take them up to speed towrds the end of the 'primary cicle'. However the problem with the British education system is that it starts fomrally tto early (5 years), where in other countries it starts later (like Finland, at 7, and they have much better results in education). Another point is that a lot of math, already by year 6 (I see my daughter in a normal English school) is not really that useful in life, or at least it depnds from what you want to do...

Ella Darling They do learn that. And, I saw a study in which I saw that they did extraordinarily well in life.

@Ella Darling there is a video about the boy who didn't learn to read and write. He went to Summerhill and didn't want to learn these things. He managed to do really well for himself in life and eventually decided to teach himself to read and write when he wanted to. That's it. Nothing bad happened. 😉 AND: that's one student. I hear from a lot of schools with this approach that they don't have anything students that refues to learn (forever). Some take a long time, but they all want to learn it at some point. (Like the man in the video - it took a really Long time. 😉 But He did when it was time for him.)
