I just met Richard today at Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket and he is such an amazing person. Really passionate about his work and has great stories to tell. He told me about your video and I'm so happy I got to see one of his greenhouses in it. His collection of plants is really impressive! He told me that when he started his business he ordered the cacti seeds from around the world. Obviously there was no internet at that time, he was just corresponding with the sellers by mail. I will definitely stop by again to talk with him and buy him several plants. He needs our support for his business

Could you please do a video on fruit bearing plants like bananas, figs, berrys, apples, pears, citrus and all the others? Would love to know if you have any fruittrees in you home :). I have a banana plant inside, and apples, pears, berrys, figs, plums and grapes outside. Love Kippetje too :D

Note to self 4:30 Summer April- October (as infrequently as once a month (bare minimum (not ideal), as frequently as twice a week (more often for more sun(make sure it dries out first)))) Winter November - March (no water at all) During growing season (summer) fertilize with fish-based fertilizer (if fertilizer is okay for plants I'm gonna eat). 8:55 for more info on plant nutrition.

This video gave me some valuable information such as, don't water your cacti all winter if they're sitting in low light. And fish emulsion is a good fertilizer for cacti (but it sure can be stinky indoors). I had a couple of barrel cacti on a windowsill for 20 years and then all of a sudden, they collapsed, like they were hollow inside. Now I think I probably over watered them, for the first time in their lives, in the winter. I was so sad, because I'd brought them home from a special visit with a friend in Arizona, marking my 40th birthday. So, I avoided growing cactus plants for a while -- until now. My birthday is next week, and I've treated myself to 4 different kinds of prickly pear, including one that's a bright purple. This will be my first time to grow cacti from pads. I'm particularly excited about one plant that I'm still waiting for, because it's supposed to be able to overwinter in New England (I live in Connecticut). I saw one of these many, many years ago in someone's garden (also in Connecticut). So, I plan to plant this one outdoors. I agree with someone else's comment here, that I'd love to hear Richard tell us more about some of his collection, so I will look for the second video, since the one I am watching now apparently aired three years ago. I really enjoyed this one.
