Tiny ornaments would be OK, maybe some made of straw, but larger ornaments don't work so great, on that little 'piney-looking tree.' Thanks to your guest garden expert Rudy, who gave us some good tips, on some cool plants, for the Christmas season and beyond. 🎉

Sorry for long text..😅 As i know and whatbi observed big flowered cyclamen are from meditteranean reagion and they flower through out the winter. In slovenia we have hardy ones but winter interups the flowering, but on adriatic coast they bloom outumn to spring, . As i know all Cyclamen withstand the night frost with worming in the day. To cold at day and frost at night will kill bigflowered ones. I came across big flowerd nes withstanding the winter with lows in -10celsius at night -3 with periodical worming up to 10celcius..they lost all the flowers and leaves, being shelterd with few pine branches. they did resprout in the spring flowerin to late month of May! All of the cyclamen i saw in Mediterranean were growing on a hard clayish or sandstonish rocky soil covered with oak leaves and patches of dried or green grasses under the litle canopy of this bushy okes and cypresses and ligium shrubs aka pistachios sp. even evergreen shrubs put some volume of leaves (i think because of slower decomposition cause of droughtand heat) isolating them in summer from heat and uv and drouand in winter if cold blast may occur . It is funny to see chameleons and cyclamen in the same spot😅💕💕✌️

Hello Summer. Let's be real. Paperwhites smell like feet. I ran a retail greenhouse for 6 years. Every year we had a survey asking customers what they think paperwhites smell like. Overwhelming answer... unwashed feet. 😂 Definitely not for a small room.

That first plant, the Euphorbia pulcherrima, is toxic. I once saw those plants on young children's tables in a school. Why is this not mentioned by people who sell plants, like this lady?

they're somewhere between azaleas and gloxinias in terms of care, meaning they like it cool and humid but need bottom watering because they rot really easily with overwatering or having wet leaves or crowns

Schlumbergera is a genus of cacti found in the coastal mountains of south-eastern Brazil in habitats that are generally shady with high air humidity. These plants grow on trees or rocks (epiphytes and/or rupicolous), and I always find it curious that people plants them with soil most of the time, and probably that's why they generally don't last much.

Same thing with the likes of rhipsalis. The water retention in soil makes up for the lack of humidity in most homes I suppose but I always use orchid bark in my mixes when potting them up.

I’ve tried every year for years to keep the norfolk pine alive- crisps up dries up so easy. Im thinking might need more humidity havent bought one this year even though im so tempted to try again

I hate the smell of Paperwhite daffodils, but you can buy a scent less variety. I keep seeing the Norfolk pine as a Christmas tree alternative, the one in the store was the best I’ve seen, absolutely stunning. You’ve tempted me to look out for one

Love this store, so wish I could go there, she showed lovely plants both common and different. This time of year we need flowers and colored leaves. Favorite? Cyclamen and that Saliginella! ( For great cyclamen growing see videos by Grow Up Man) thank you Summer and Geometry Gardens…h Happy Holidays to all! 🌹🌿

The first Begonia is B. maculata cv. 'Wightii', not a plain typical B. maculata species, like those you´ll find in voucher specimen (exsiccata) deposited in the herbarium of some botanical institution ou even in nature, in Rio de Janeiro, from where they came from (where I live). Fortunatelly they are still a bit common in the florests and coastal mountains with some shade providing plants.

Let’s be real. This episode could have used more pizazz and creativity on the holiday plants and flower part. There are so many plants that are reminiscent or reminders of holidays. More so than the basic poinsettia, Norfolk pine, or Christmas green agleonema. I’m sad to say this episode was underwhelming to say the least. I found myself fast forwarding most of it.
