The Rock and Triple H stole the show with their performance. That match proved that you don't need to do flips and kicks or high risk moves to pull of a great ladder match.

Triple h vs Rock ladder match is one of the most underrated summerslam matches.

SS '98 was one of the two PPV tapes I owned when I was younger (Backlash '00 was the other), and I loved this show up and down. Even the Oddities vs Kaientai, which you overlooked. It's still one of my favorite comedy/filler matches on an entertainment level. Fun match.

I agree, in my opinion, i rate WrestleMania 14 my favorite Mania of all time and SummerSlam 98, also one of my favorites of all time.. 98 was just a great year for WWF, that is where they started to rise again. Even though WCW was still decent in 98, but they were falling shortly.. and dont forget! HHH a year later, also became the WWF champion.

SummerSlam 1998 was a classic, i feel Austin never had a shot at the streak at Wrestlemania because he faced Taker so many times between 98 and 99
@jrad41010 жыл бұрын
Wells remember the streak wasn't anything back then, had taker faced Austin at mania in the 90s taker woulda lost

Looking back it's kind of good that Austin or The Rock never faced Undertaker at a WrestleMania because there would be no streak.

1998 was great because the WWF was back on Top, WCW was a bit stagnant but stagnant on Top. And ECW after Barley Legal 1997 was the legit No. 3 Pro-Wrestling Company, and they did very well in 1998. Yes Jeff, this was a great time to be a Fan of the Sport of Professional Wrestling. And this SummerSlam was great. Maybe it was not an all time great Show like 1988, 1992 or 2002, but still a great Show like 1989, 1991 or 1997. A Great Card with Fun Matches and great Matches everthing what a SummerSlam should be.

This was also the start of the Austin and Taker heel fued.. then it started again around may of 99 again, even though kane and taker had a match for the WWF title and austin the guest ref, and then the buried alive match at Rock Bottom. If you notice, the WWF never went thru with the storyline of austin and taker after Rock Bottom, yeah it was time to fued with vince and rock in a way for mania but thats the point.. an austin vs taker match never happed at mania.. i always beleived austin would of been the one to kill the streak, of course if they booked it but if anyone i always thought austin, not just because hes my favorite and i beleive the greatest of all time but look at it this way, austin pretty much made taker turn heel..

it sucked. 'Taker needed the win more

WCW had no Version of SummerSlam, like they had no Version of WrestleMania. This was what made them great to watch as a different Product to the WWF because they did not build their Year around the Royal Rumble/WrestleMania time, WCW was build around WCW's Monday Nitro. They had bigger Shows like SuperBrawl, Bash at the Beach, Halloween Havoc and Starrcade but they were not the Main Focus for the Company and the Fans.
@Eternal5ent10 жыл бұрын
Alexander Palm Starcade was just like Wrestlemania to WCW
@alexanderpalm938910 жыл бұрын
Beejay da Gigolo No, that is not true, Starrcade was the biggest Show the WCW had, but it was never as big to them like WrestleMania to the WWF. The WWF was and is build around WrestleMania while WCW in that Time was build around Monday Nitro.
