What kind of riding will you be doing the majority of the time? If you are going to ride mostly paved surfaces and very smooth dirt/rail type trails, the T1 will work for you. You can still do touring and light bikepacking with the T1. The Summit 1 will do that as well as handle rougher trails and more challenging adventure riding. Summit1 is 20+ pounds heavier than the T1. The T1 has the battery range with the range extender and is super light. Does that answer your question?

If you plan do do touring & bikepacking the Summit 1 has a much stronger motor that will handle the extra baggage & weight much more capably. The T1's max load is 330lbs whereas the Summit 1 is 440lbs.

You also don't have front suspension with the T1, which will be a much stiffer ride than the Summit 1, since the Summit 1 has a really nice suspension fork. You can put a suspension stem and suspension seat post on the T1 to help with the bumps The huge 2.6" plus size tires on the Summit 1 help absorb a lot of road & trail bumps as well.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks now. Only disappointment is the pedal assist on steeper hills is very weak even on highest level of assist (Boost 5). Using the throttle there is plenty of power though - but that is not ideal. It appears to be related to the most recent firmware. Hoping Velotric can fix. They don't support going back to a previous version.

I have not tried Boost at all. I have been mainly in Eco & Trail. On my next ride I will check the boost level out. I have found that I have plenty of assist for steeper hills, but it clearly is not a rocket ship on the steeper hills.

If you are pedaling slower, it will give you less power, that’s the way a torque sensor works

@@AngryBlueProductions I've noticed that with the Summit 1 that if I stay in a harder gear, the torque sensor responds nicely and powers me up steeper hills, where if I downshift into a granny-ish gear, the power assist is less.

If you throttle only, no pedaling, how much range would you get? I'm assuming based on the battery, full throttle the whole time would get you about 25-28 miles. Would be a popular vid, I think, if you filmed that test. Happy 4th!
