No recording equipment or special controllers required like things like other competitive games.

Nah man. He will never be on the leaderboards. Unless he is willing to burn hours and hours and hours of replaying the same map over and over again. As much as how good summit is at racing, trackmania and their community is a whole other level. Not to mention all the record holders have tricks and shortcuts up their sleeves. And certain shortcuts has a very low percentage of success.

I love watching videos about speedruns lol. A great channel for that is summoning salt. I love when a speed runner is so dominant at a game that they can go back for like 3 hours and reset the record lol. Like others may find all the strats (not always) but these guys perfect it.

I remember playing BF2 in 2005 for hours as a teen and then played the new battlefield came out, Battlefield 3 this was the game we were all looking for and there was a player I played with called Williamss2 and he was know as the best player in bf2 and in bf3, I went to a lan party with a friend who was on his team to play in a tourament and everyone had amazing setups like the best. keyboards, monitors, mouses and all talking about their settings they would lose and here come williamsss2 with a ball mouse, broken headphones and all his settings were just on default, no one understood how he was so good.

The record was since broken by Raceta with a 26.19, Demon also tied the 26.19, pablo is 3rd with the 20.20. Anyone's guess if there is a hundredth left to improve. On paper, of course there is. The normal strat TAS is 26.09, so you would say there is a lot of time, but that's in theory. And of course TAS-ers have somehow found an insane cut, so the track is not actually cut proof. But that's not human viable.

Trackmania easily has the best feeling racing mechanics out of any racing game I've ever played. If you're into simulation racing there's obviously better options out there but trackmania is definitely has the most "fun" feeling controls.
