It's the creators map, so he gets to do whatever, but I feel like he could use an iterative system if he wants to implement hard fixes like that. That way speedrunners can still hold records, but in specific versions. But honestly, putting a wall over like that was so uninspiring.

12:00 Because speedrun communities don't run on spite, they run on "haha you got me, but can you do this?" It's the challenge, it's never been about keeping something, only getting it to begin with. They update the track, they make it harder. Well, that's just a new challenge. Trackmania 2020 would be so much less popular with the tracks getting recycled every few months, especially with the daily tracks. No one would care.

Is it weird to anyone else how ludwig and the chat thought that the creator updating the map was somehow "not fun"? At least to me, the fun in finding these kinds of shortcuts (in any game) is the challenge. Once the challenge has been finished, why wouldn't you want a new one?

The way I (and I'm guessing the chat) see it, the creator is refusing to play along and accept the existence of a shortcut. You see the constant edits as a back-and-forth between the creator and shortcut-seekers. I see it more like a kid getting mad because you're not playing with their toy the way they wanted you to. Personally, I'd much rather the creator say "fair cop" and make a new map instead of editing this same map whenever someone shortcuts it.

@@TMThesaurus From what I heard from other commenters who knew Igntul on forums and such, he didn't particularly care for the map anymore after people figured out the solution. Him seeing the map get shortcutted in these new ways is what actually drew his interest back to the map and was actually updating the map to see if there were even more new ways to shortcut the map without getting rid of the original premise and solution to the map because then it would've become a different map altogether.

Uh Lud, to answer your question, no, it wouldn’t shorten the record of most time saved on a shortcut. If you were referring to most time saved on a record, then yes, but the shortcut still saved more time going backward than forward over the course of the whole track, even though the record was only improved by a half hour.

Ludwig do not react to the thing thinking "boy oh boy I'm gonna make a shot load of money reacting to this" but the one who reupload it and check "the suitable for advertising" clearly considering money as a factor.
