After an unsuccessful attempt earlier this season, I'm back to have another try for the summit. What challenges will the mountain throw at us this time?

Thanks for omitting music. Even when it's well done, it's usually distracting. My grandmother claimed to have been among the oldest to climb Shasta in the 1940s, but she was surely not referring to the laborious climb shown on KZbin.

Hi Jimmy I would like to know if you would be interested in taking a volunteer with you on your next winter Shasta ascent. I feel like we share some common values and that I can help add some value to the group as well. Let me know i’d love to chat on dm

I think that unless you are able to pack your own shit out of there, I think submitting should be banned. It's almost sacrilegious to deface the mountain in that way

Good work! I did Shasta back in March, and it was incredible. Got really lucky with the weather, clear all around. It's really interesting to see it in different conditions. In March, we skied directly from the TH.

@HikingNerd
@HikingNerd 2 жыл бұрын
I could give you a straightforward answer but I’m going to be difficult and point you towards the right direction (since knowledge is a key mountaineering skill). I would refer you to the Shasta Avalanche Center website as well as the book Freedom of the Hills to answer that. Hint: consider both objective hazards and human hazards when considering whether your planned trip is “safe”.

@@HikingNerd did you own most of the mountaineering gear (helmet, ice axe, crampons, etc.) or did you rent at local store?
