I had to kill more than a dozen to get my 1st piece, and over 40 to get all 4 that can drop. The 5th is from the Expedition. There's no magic recipe despite what people claim, it's all just rare RNG. I definitely got helmets without blowing up all the armor pieces, and I also definitely did NOT get a helmet unlock with blowing all armor spots. It's just a rare drop.

Yeah it is rare. I was lucky enough to get my first and second pieces with my first 2 Broodmother kills, but at this point I'm 18 kills in and haven't gotten the other two yet though, yikes.

I think you need to remove all her armour before killing her. On top, underneath back and front and on the legs. The drop appears in your inventory with a message on screen and it will be one of the four helmets. The Chitin items I believe will be from the upcoming expedition.

to get the drop you have to remove all the shell from head/body/legs

I saw one guy get all 4 helmets from 8 grubs, another guy did over 20 grubs to get 1 helmet. Cruel rng.

also remember you can do the encounter on any planet, so you can to an airless world with no sentinels if u whish

They should make it so the sentinels (if on a aggresive planet) will automatically try to suppress the brood mother, the brood mother usually wins against the walker due to the walker being overwhelmed

apparently you need to remove all the shell, if you kill the adds that depletes the yellow bar

I just randomly killed them like you and randomly got the rewards. Still unsure what the trigger is, but others have said you have to remove all of her armor and I was using the grenade launcher on her, which probably helped damage her all over. Also, I think the single best thing they could ever do for combat in this game is to NOT make your character automatically holster the weapon when you land on the ground. I have no clue why that happens.

You did right next to a drone.... Z listen jyst collect many of the larva and then fly somewhere that has no sentinels, you can spawn the brood mothers on any planet

it's all great and good, but it doesn't have the pvp of ark. because of that it's a game i may pick up once in awhile and play after beating it but that's about it. good stuff but with no meaningful pvp. had high hopes until i found that out, now that ark's become a complete sh. show.

Are you talking about the PVP of NMS? If so, the game is not centred around PVP. It's just optional.

that's not pvp if someone can just turn it off any time... like when they are losing XD. that's pve mainly. nah like a galaxy just dedicated to it. stealing ships and tames and takeing on armada's. idk i guess a tad more eve online but without the scale or micro transactions.
