Cross stratification comes in many different types. It refers to a geometry in sand or sandstone where at least some of the layers are eroded away by younger flows and more sand is deposited on top. Epsilon cross stratification is a very specific type of cross stratification where the layers thin to zero thickness at their lowest point, thicken where the are sloping, and then thin to zero again at the top.
