This young Ukrainian Aonishiki has a very good potential!! Thanks again Sarah! Someone can explain why some Makushita fight in Juryo sometimes? Like Oshoumi or Kitadaichi ? What’s the rules for them for the Kashi Koshi and the Make koshi ?

Hey, some rikishi on the top of a division will eventually be pulled to the division above for a fight when said division has an uneven number of fighters. This happens when some people have pulled out from the championship. Each rikishi competes on one division only based on their current rank, so their wins/losses count only to the very division they’re taking part currently. The banzuke committee sometimes uses the results of these “mixed-division” bouts as a tie-break to solve situations where two rikishi would be technically deserving the same rank.
