3:36 translation is wrong- Asashoryu says モンゴル相撲 (mongol-sumo) which is not "the mongolian style of sumo", but traditional Mongolian wrestling (Bokh).

As a 4th grader, my mom, dad, and I used to watch Asashoryu more than even cable. My mom even has a tattoo of him on her leg. My dad passed away 4/17/2020 and watching him and his awe inspiring strength just reminds me of cheering him on with them. Now, watching this honestly makes me feel so proud to be part Japanese and have this amazing sport as part of my culture.

Samurai is killer, He is not He is mongolian wrestler, but japan knows about mongolian history, and sent chinese person as helper to him chinese person insulted him at his Win Party, He called him chinese wrestler. he pushed him that is reason, why he hasto give up before he could do record of Sumo

He was the one who made me fall in love with sumo. I saw him even as a beginner, then I could see his technique, which he brought over from wrestling. And later, the determination, the fight, which I liked. The reaction of the audience also showed how great it was. No matter what negative things were written and said about him, for me and I think for many others, he is the real great sumo fighter!!! I haven't seen a sumo wrestler with a similar technique since then!

It absolutely would have happened. Hakuho just won his 40th championship a few days ago. Surely, he wouldn't have dominated the sport in the fashion in which he has if Asashoryu had still been around.

It sounds stupid when the interviewer calls him a "sumo" -- he is a sumo wrestler, just as you don't refer to a soccer player as a "soccer". Also, the translation has some pretty major mistakes in it. For a name as big as CNN, this is pretty sloppy reporting

so poor is their excuse why he was succesful? sounds like jealous and hateful well im poor and im not succesful with anything in any sport lol the reason why they are very good is just because mongolians are stronger
@Mitjitsu6 жыл бұрын
Its not a case of being stronger. Its a case of Mongolian wrestling techniques transferring well into sumo.

@leddeath80 With all the wars and goverments being run by republicans, or the same type of people. You are gonna sit at your computer and make a big deal about athletes being put in harms way? We choose to play football. We choose to be an athlete. The whole non-muslim population in Darfur and Chad were recently wiped out. The planet poisoned and destroyed by corporations with republican politicians backing them. Pick your fights better. Look around you.
