Hello and welcome to another edition of SUMO PRIME TIME. We really appreciate you for always checking out the channel. This time, SUMO PRIME TIME invites former Ozeki Tochinoshin from Georgia to reflect on his 17-year pro sumo career. A star wrestler who called it quits in May speaks frankly about his achievements and adversities as a sumo wrestler and shares his future aspirations. Having Tochinoshin right in front of me, I couldn’t resist but challenge the Herculean star by grappling with him in chest-to-chest position. I tried my best to force Tochinoshin back but he is so big and strong that he didn’t budge at all and squashed me with a powerful lift out. I truly enjoyed speaking with the former Ozeki because he’s so nice and sweet as a person. No wonder he is so popular even after he retired. I wish him nothing but the best moving forward as he tries to become a bridge between Japan and the rest of the world. Now, we’d like to thank you for all the support we’ve been receiving for the past 12 months to make this channel popular and successful. Thanks to you, SUMO PRIME TIME has now entered its second year from this month and we’d like to use this opportunity to get together with our viewers on a live streaming show to express our appreciation. We’re looking forward to meeting you all, so please join me Hiro Morita to chat about the sport we love. I’d really like to interact with you as much as possible during the show, so we hope you send us your opinions, questions and suggestions. I can’t wait because it’s going to be a lot of fun! Here’s the schedule for the upcoming live streaming show. SUMO PRIME TIME Live streaming show “SUMO TALK WITH HIRO!!” Monday, August 21 10:00 AM Japan Time 1:00 AM UTC (Duration: 45 minutes) We hope you join us for another fun get together!!

As a long time fan of Tochinoshin (he's actually the reason why I fell in love with the sport in 2018!) his transparency here is refreshing, even though its a little sad to see him hang his head so much. You can tell he really wishes he could go back and do it all again. Keep your head up Ozeki! You have fans all around the world that still love you and wish you all the best in your next chapter of life! Thank you for being my introduction to such a wonderful sport! ❤

This man has nothing to regret, you can't control the adversity and misfortune life will throw at you, all you have control over is how you react to it; he recovered, fought back, and eventually chose to retire before those injuries got the better of him. I hope he enjoys a healthy retirement!

"Because I want to become stronger.” Even if it's a common word, it feels special when he says it. He retired early because he couldn't show the fans his sumo. If he had continued sumo a little longer, he might have Oyakata stocks. ah Tochinoshin,He has the heart of the Japanese ideal. He became a person just like his name.

I'm an American in California who only just recently became a huge Sumo fan and the very first video I ever watched was of Tochinoshin that I stumbled across a few years ago. This is the first interview I've seen with him and he is obviously an incredibly humble, kind, gentle man as well as a great athlete. A true legend and I wish him the very best in all his future endeavors.

Tochinoshin has nothing to regret, he walked with the giants for 17 years. I got back into Sumo in mid 2017 and immediately liked him, his brute strength was amazing. I watched him win hi Yusho in 2018 and get promoted to Ozeki that same year. He had the major set back with his knee and fell to 3rd division but charged back all the way to Ozeki. The combination of his age and the injuries he suffered over his 17 year career are what ended his era in Sumo, he will always be loved by many fans around the world. Thank you Tochi for the great run in Sumo you are a hero to many, I hope you will perhaps train the next great Georgian Rikishi. I am looking forward to his retirement ceremony and I hope it is covered by Sumo Prime Time, as well as other Sumo based channels.

Sumo Prime Time! In your own words - Tochinoshin gets more views than anyone - even after retirement! Why? Because he appeals not only to Japanese viewers and fans as a good sumo practitioner - but he was and still is an OUTSTANDING ambassador of Sumo to the 'rest of this world' that 'unfortunately' finds it harder and harder, to watch the bi-monthly Bashos! Sumo NEEDS more publicity, more attention, more 'views' from the outside world 'into' the world of Sumo! Not to 'change' a multi-hundreds year old sport - but to 'embrace' it and learn from the heritage and honor the sport brings to Japan! I and so many, rely on KZbin for Sumo. If only there were ways for us to watch who are outside of Japan - it would make the constant search for an un-striked channel on youtube and other sources online, much less of a constant struggle for us Fans of Sumo to follow our Rikishi and this amazing, honorable, and historical sport. Thank you Hiro for all that you do to help Sumo reach others around the world!

Tochinoshin is my favorite Rikishi. I had the pleasure of serving along the Georgian Military, when I was in the Marines, so when I found that there was a Georgian who was in Gran Sumo I immediately fell in love and watched all of his previous bouts that I could find and followed his career from then on until his retirement. I felt a lot of pride seeing him fight till the end and it reminded me of the wolves I served with.

Watching sumo became my escape and when I saw Tochi it made me think back to Street Fighter and E. Honda.
