Is it correct that its actually 60.000yen but the sumo association will keep 30.000yen for rikishi when they retire ?
@watto_so1962 сағат бұрын
Who gives that money?
@DottorHealer2 сағат бұрын
If I remember correctly, mostly from advertising revenues feom the ads on the kensho, and people can sponsor single fights too

It’s the prematch sponsors. That’s why lower tier fights without sponsors don’t have envelopes

I just love stablemaster Otowayama!! He seems like a really good, decent, humble chap. He obviously puts thought into what he says, his actions reflects his words. An even keeled stablemaster, who takes individual care to each of his rikshi, thus would grow it to 20, so he can give individualized dirction and coaching. He is not a do as i say, not as i do kind of coach. He will coach by example. Love he doesn't onmt focus on sumo and winning but the overall development from teenagers to young men, who will represent the JSA. Forward thinking. Very smart reflective gentlemen. And hes a great singer too! I think he sings Frank Sinatra's, My Way, far better than ole blue eyes himself, in English! Talented, intelligent, humble, patient- what a gift to sumo and Japan ❤👍🙏arigato Yokozuna Kakuryu and Hiro San!! 👍😁

At the end of his first bout in May, that look on Onosato's face when he defeated the (injured but still powerful) Yokozuna, let the world know he'd gotten over his lack of confidence when facing high-ranking opponents. That's when I KNEW he would go all the way!

Question: Wikipedia describes Kirishima Tetsuo (of sumo fame) and Ryunosuke Haga (of judo fame) as friends, but that description appears to reference two animated characters, rather than real-life human beings. Are the characters named in honor of the people? Are the given names and/or family names very common in Japan, or did someone create an alternative universe while I wasn't looking? (I'm equally fine with all those options. I just want to be less confused.) Have two humans ever even met? Wikipedia often lives down to its reputation for being unreliable, but now they're taking it a bit too far.

Hiro, SPT, I really liked this stable video. One suggestion. I think it would be great if you could introduce each member of the stable with a quick screen shot and written name. This should include the wrestlers as well as yobidashi, gyoji, tokoyama, and okamisan. This would be nice for the stable members plus it would be great for those of us who want to learn more of the wrestlers than just the top one or two divisions. Thanks for the consideration. Keep the stable videos coming.

I’m curious if anyone is an expert about sumo, do they use steroids? I’m sure 95% of all athletes at the top level use them but I’m not sure if in Japan it’s any different
