I'm surprised you didn't put in a new check valve during your install. When the check valve goes bad it could cause the pump to fail.

If the diameter of the hole itself us 16”, can I use an 18”cover to seal it? Or does it have to be a smaller size? Thanks

How high is it supposed to be? My pump is cycling rapidly and I see water shooting out that vent hole when it runs. Not sure if pump is failing but runs 3 to 5 x’s long than it used to do.

@@vonmajorI don’t think it’s supposed to be to high. I don’t think it matters if it’s low as long as above pump. You want it low enough because water is supposed to shoot out and you want the hole where it shoots back in pit. So it definitely needs to be in the pit area at least and make sure you angle the hole where it’s shooting downwards if you drill a new hole in pipe.

Air rises in water, so higher is good, but low enough so it sprays into pit.

He should’ve put a union where that coupling was installed. I was taught to put a union, check, and ball valve so that shit doesn’t rain down on you if you need to disconnect the discharge while it’s full. The swing check valve alone would make me nervous
