I got RPG Maker MV for Christmas and its awesome. Although this playlist of tutorials are the most helpful thing I think I've ever seen on youtube. You are a very entertaining guy, with clear concise points, and you keep your tutorials relatively short so me with my ADD attention span can stay focused through it. I just wanted to say you've earned a sub and a lot of likes, and I hope you continue to do more in the future! :D

I had RPG maker XP when I was really young (when I had no intention of doing research or learning the program in it’s entirety) and a recent lucid dream sparked my motivation to completely learn the MV program. Thank you for these tutorials and you’ve definitely earned my subscription. Thanks for making a complicated thing seem simple!

For Autorun events that run every time (like for setting the screen tint): Create a switch called something like "mapName_setScene" and set your Autorun event to run only when its switch is set to ON. At the end of that event, set your switch (global switch, not self-switch) to OFF. You don't need a second event page for this, btw. Last, whenever you want this event to trigger, set your mapName_setScene switch to ON before you transfer the player to the map (put this in a door or transfer event). Alternately, after you transfer the player away from the map you can change that map's setScene switch to ON. You could even have multiple setScene switches for the same map, so different entrances or key items (for example) could determine which setScene runs.

At first, I didn't know we should end the autorun and I saw mom character saying "Get a job" like ten times. She was just supposed to turn her back and go after saying that. I solved this problem making the event getting triggered by action button but now i'll fix it. Thanks man.

I'm having an issue. And it's boggling my mind. I have a boss fight inside a sub map - upon win it Switches a number. I have some guards blocking a path on the MAIN map with regular texts saying it's blocked with a SECOND event page set to the trigger number of that boss fight. When it's won- they still stand there until interacted with. Map change resets them. I want them moved out the way permanently after the boss win, but I feel like I'm missing something basic.

*QUESTION!* 4:20 1st of all, 420 heheh... 2nd, my actual question: So, setting a character to wait for X frames. Will that change according to whatever frame rate the player has? Say for example I set someone to wait for 15 frames, and I expect the game to run at 30fps. If a player runs the game at 60fps, it will wait for 30 frames then, right? To account for the increase in frames. Another question, how do I set a framerate for the game to run in? I think I'd just want my game to run at 30fps. Is there a way to lock the game at a certain frame rate? Do I even need to? Or will the game scale, "Wait X frames" according to the players frame rate?

When I try to do the same thing, I have problem with my test game I try to work on. When I enter the building it should have 'autorun test' as a dialogue box text. I can move but it just never shows the 'autorun test' dialogue box at all. My autorun event doesn't work at all.

I'm trying to make a cutscene and the cutscene plays out just fine, but as soon as I leave the area and come back the actors are still there and I dont know how to make them gone, I've tried to make the actors disappear with the self switch but it isn't working. There are 5 characters in the scene total and 4 of them are party members.. Anyone have any ideas?

hey there. i make this autorun and i control another event1(a soldier sprite) with a hidden trigger event on the wall but after set movement and change image to dead soldier sprite, the event1(soldier) disappeared..i check everything and it seems change image is the cause of all this..but i want to change the image to a dead soldier though...help..

I've been trying to do a cutscene where the player walks into the room, a monster appears, and then you fight it, beat it, and it dissapears. how do I make it stay gone? the event never plays again but now i have a minotaur just sitting there being like ehhhh bruh when I walk in. i tried going into the event page thats triggered by the self switch and make it turn transparent there, but that didnt work. I've been looking everywhere and gotten no real help, so if you or anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, it would be hugely appreciated.

Could you use multiple scenes for one location, just by switching a bunch of switches? Can you make a video on that, for example? (Like going to one location, doing something, coming back and something in the area is different and the dialog is different, leave and come back, and something's different again?)

Problem: I have an NPC using a parallel event to run around a tree. However I would like her to stop walking and talk to me If I try interacting with her, and then have her continue running around the tree when our conversation completes. How can I interact with parallel events?

You have probably solved this by now, but I answer just in case :) Npc doesn’t need to be set on parallel to move on their own. You just have to plan their their path and then set them on action button, so you can interact with them after clicking on them.

I can't find any tutorials to help with what I want.... I've made an event in front of a door that shows text saying they can not enter this room... I want to be able to talk to a character and then for the event set in front of the door to disappear so I can enter

sas'UKE' that sounds really simple to do with switches. In my opinion, unless it's a dude standing in front of the door telling you can't enter, you only need the door event (plus the character you want the player to talk to before entering the door). Page 1 on the door event should have no conditions and either a "player touch" or "action button" trigger. Make it display whatever text you want ("It's locked," "I can't leave yet," etc) Then, after talking to the NPC event, make it turn on a switch. Page 2 of the door should have the condition that that switch needs to be on and now, instead of displaying that text, you make it transfer the player to another map.

Hey, I'm trying to make a scene where the player walks into a room, and a man is slowly creeping towards them from the other side of the room, and so the man SHOULD say "They betrayed us" once and walk over to the spot I set his movement route to. But what happens is it just says "They betrayed us" but the man isn't there. Any help?

The movement route is it's own processing event, it'll only work if the current event isn't active, if you want the event to follow in order of what you wanted, you'll need to make the walk route in the event page, then the text, then another walk route for said event.

Did you make sure to set the trigger of the dialogue to Auto run as well? Also make sure that you have the event that you want to play first be on page one as the higher up the event is, the higher it's priority, if a trigger for page 2 is met then page 1 will never play.

if i wanted to make a dialog like this i clicked to one npc, the npc said "hey A, How are you?" "Ready for a little training?" then i add 2 choices (yes and no) if i click to yes, it will turn into battle scene and i should make my character win fight the npc, then it will give me 500gold and 3x potion drops after my character win if i clicked to the same npc it will respond a different dialogue for example (after win the battle) *click the npc and npc will said "hey A, Nice Weather right?" if i click again the npc will say "huh?, what do you want? the training is over comeback tomorrow!" I should sleep until the days change and if i start battle again and win the npc only gave me exp without gold and potion drops. i hope someone respond to my questions hehe, thank you!

Dude Please. my question is. i go to a cave and speak with a portal. that portal does not open. i go back to the king and talk to him. and because i spoke to the portal and it did not open. the king says. this is weird. it should be activated. and these events are on two several maps. how do i combine them? dou you know what i mean? i just want to that an event in map 1 triggers an event in map 2

Few ways you can do this, You could set the event on map 2 to only activate if a certain switch is on (Which is the best way for a single event trigger) or if you want a series of a events; I recommend using variables.

unfortunately the "Erase Event" event is a bit misleading, what it does is it removes the event from the map and as soon as you leave the map, it returns, so the best time to use it would be if you want an autorun event to always activate when you enter the map. Self switches on the other hand are self contained events that normally can't be effected by outside things (I say normally because you can do a lot of things with Java, and by a lot I mean pretty much anything), in this case it'll lock the event page 1 down since page 2 can be activated (highest number page takes priority), only by deactivating the self switch will page 1 run.

NVM I GOT it. Now Im trying to make my Active party members to appear at home as i Get them. Example Party Member 2 is at Party as soon as i get home he is there. If he is not in the party he will no appear.

I have rpg maker mv and I keep have problems with a self run even I wanna do. I have Npc that does actions and goes to walk out of the room and disappear. I have literally done EVERYTHING everyone on the internet says to do with self switches this and that but the character still wont disappear! I've been at this for 5 days straight and I am so close to giving up. Could you maybe help me? or make a tutorial about how to do it? that would be most helpful if I could actually see someone do it!

If you make him walk off screen or to the exit you can set his movement route as transparent, then make a self switch and make a second page, on the second page make the trigger the self switch and the rest of the event page blank.

That's because it's running the next event page, just make sure that on that page that it has no character image attached to the event.

Yes but you'll need a set up for it, I recommend adding a switch to the end of the npc's dialogue then making that the trigger for the autorun event, keep in mind you'll have to create a way to end the event afterwards or it'll loop indefinitely
