I use the shadow of the center metal spot to aim the dish, so on the ground it's fine. I have bot had problems on windy days. I lean 2 bricks, one each on opposing diagonals, and I hang a small rock from the top of the dish. The small rock prevents the whole dish circling around in wind.

Yea it's an awesome gadget. I leave mine set up near the porch facing away from the sunny window so it's ready for use. It works great. Just remember that it blows around easily so be ready to shelter it from wind.
