Take a look at rebuild rescue... he is restoring a C401(?) that was abandoned for like 20 years on the ramp. It is a fast growing youtube channel and it seems like he is doing good with it.

For certain aircraft you can (or could, I believe the market if softening) ask near new for a decade-old example, due to the long waiting list for factory-fresh examples.

Beautiful restoration. My one ding would be all of the Lock & Key logos outside and inside. Maybe just did that for the SnF show, but having it on the yokes, arm rest end caps, and elsewhere was just too much for me. Could be more subtle about it.

you mean the trim piece in the back that was either misaligned or hanging off? or all the dust around the breakers? or the old looking interior trim? Seems like a newer looking AirMod interior would be standard on bring a plane "up" to modern standards vs. old design.

Is the L & K better than a G-58 production line roll-off? The net cost seems to be about equal.

1.1 is a hell of a lot less than 2 million for a brand new baron that’s no better.

I'm low key high key lock and key a believer in building new rather than spend 1.1million for a 1960 plane with similar mileage to a modern light twin jet going twice as fast We badly need a bonanza/baron replacement that's pressurized, 300kg empty and has twin jet engines. The contrast would be staggering.

If you can afford almost $1mil for this redone B58, you can probably afford a new DA62.
@TheReadBaron91
@TheReadBaron91 Жыл бұрын
Not when it’s broken all the time, I guess that’s be warranty though for a few years. Know an owner of a new DA62, first week out of the factory it needed a new wing. Now, less than 6 months it’s getting a whole new engine.

@FamilyManMoving
@FamilyManMoving Жыл бұрын
There are few STCs for the DA-62. Kind of limits what you can do. I don't even think you can change the seats. Forget avionics, engine or structural. I guess you could probably add the dash hula dancer - but only on a suction cup base - if you want to personalize.

Great idea, but I'm just bothered by the wrinkled skin on the nose of this particular Baron. I'm a career structures & sheet metal guy, so I know perfection is very difficult in this area, but it just bothers me for what I think this restoration costs. I may elect to have skin like that replaced, but I'm a bit OCD when it comes to airplanes I fly and especially one that I would put this kind of money into.

Nice plane but who in their right mind would do this? The only possible way this makes sense is if they buy the AC and you buy it with the work done. Otherwise you'd be way better off just getting a G58 for that price or save yourself a bunch of cash and get other people to do the upgrades. That panel is 180k tops, engines are 120k and the most expensive interior you can get would top out at 50k. Paint would top out at 30k or so. You can do all of that work for 400k so why on earth are they charging 800k and who is the customer?

Ok, so it has new paint, fancy upholstery, average avionics, and let’s face it, a lame name. Just don’t see the hype.

With all due respect…..the glass cockpits are pretty distasteful and bland. Much rather have more steam guages with a screen or two if necessary. I would only put a engine monitor screen in mine.

It sounds pretty bespoke, so you could customize it. Probably bring it under $1M with fewer/cheaper add ons.

Ya, I think I would always want old reliable gauges in anything I'd fly. Electrical failure is a thing. Wouldn't say no to throwing a screen or two in, but always have gauges available as a backup.
