Just a small correction : she said that before Israel started the ground offensive. But they immediately started to bombing, so the march and calls for ceasefire were very much of the respond to that. Plus people whose following the events know well that Hamas attack wasn't unprovoked. It was a desperate act after decades of occupation and ethnic cleansing by Israel. Religious Jews are against by the Israeli government apartheid style aggression and around the world they protest for the Palestinian people!

Yep, Owen simply listing things that Braverman has actually said, Epstein starts huffing and rolling her eyes. Her response? A disembodied rant about Hamas. What does that have to do with Sue Ellen being sacked? Then she waffles on about placards on the march which Owen rightful points out are 10 identified examples out of 100s of thousands. It's a fraction, of a fraction of 1%. Owen again lists facts, Epstein's response is another disembodied remark that he should get his facts right, whilst also saying that Braverman's remarks did nothing to incite the violence on Saturday. The woman is deranged, deluded and damaged! I shall have to satisfy my curiosity by watching the entire segment on demand, to see if (having demanded Owen condemn things) Epstein at any point condemns the violence of the far right on Saturday without any reservation.

Jeremy Vine is an issue. Have a “balanced” argument on whether it’s right for a Home Secretary to be dismissed for publicly accusing the forces of bias and lumping hundreds of thousands of people who crave peace (the massive majority of the whole) as hate mongers. Most of us want peace in the Middle East. Calling a march a 'mob', referring to them as a 'hate' group when the vast majority are asking for peace is dishonest. It's designed to provoke controversy, and even more shocking when this is really about someone wanting the PM's job. The appalling suggestion that charities could be stopped from giving tents to people who inevitably become homeless because of the political choice not to build houses is just awful. @@mattarnold8291 I watch the programme most days and it is clear to me it really needs a shake up in terms of impartiality to ensure all discussions are balanced with equal time for contributors. I am on the left and do not like a lot of what right wing commentators say but as long as it is within the bounds of reasonable conversation in the context of the debate and OFCOM rules ( its effectiveness is a whole different issue), they have a right to express their views. It works both ways. Storm Huntley is not up to chairing discussions effectively, either. I was astonished to hear her say a couple of weeks ago that she did not know that nevertheless is one word- she though it was three!

Ultimately, Suella Braverman had three roles, as a Briton, as a constituency MP and as a Cabinet Member/ Home Secretary. As a Briton and even a Constituency MP voicing what other people think is fine. However, as the Home Secretary she is there to calm the cojntry down and lead - all Britons - not help feed the fire. Even if her husband is Jewish, she must represent more than that narrow group. All British jewry should feel safe, but instead of fostering the voice of reason, and help ensure that she knowingly took a side. For that alone she needed to go.
