If, however, the relativity relates to others in our own country, then the definition of absolute poverty applies to the poorest people in our society, ie, they lack the food, sanitation, shelter, health they need to survive and thrive. Children are particularly affected by poverty. There are primary schools providing extra food for children who cannot get enough to eat. Washing their clothes, providing toiletry products etc, much of it provided by the staff. The Government should be ashamed.

With regard to “people shouldn’t be cycling on the pavement”. In my town, (and I imagine other small towns), a lot of the pavements have dedicated cycle lanes on them and are shared with pedestrians.
