Honestly, I take this as a hint that this is Nintendo prepping hype & marketing for their upcoming live-action movie. Going by this, it's likely to be a loose adaptation of BoTW. Of course, there's the problem that most existing fans are already tired of this era, playing on the same map with the same mediocre story 3 times in a row.

I mean if the switch 2 does release next year then we are looking at 8 years since BOTW which is quite a long time. It is one of their best selling games of all time and I think porting something over like that would be beneficial as it had ALOT of FPS dips on the base switch based on the size of it. 60FPS with the possibility of playing it in 4K with HDR enabled is nice and will show off how powerful the switch 2 is vs the original. Older games will run just as good on the original switch vs the switch 2, only difference likely be resolution.

I agree that it's too soon for a BOTW remake, but it could be a cash grab move. First, you make all the switch 1 games unplayable on the two. Then you remastered BOTW and tears of the kingdom. Package it as one game. Last, charge a $10 fee per digital game to play switch 1 games on the switch 2. Instant cash flow.

A RE4-tier remake of OoT is my dream! Aonuma has talked about a game where Shiek is playable way before EoW was a thing. Imagine a remake of OoT with an alternating parallel intertwining story where you play as Link & Zelda as Shiek. That would be so awesome if done well.

BOTW 4k remake is what is proposed, apparently. I think that's a really weird take. It's a little too soon. However, BOTW did have some easy to fix issues, especially in comparison to TOTK. TOTK had more issues from a gameplay perspective. BOTW could have been the best in the series if those issues were fixed. It was an ambitious game for the developers but here's my thing: I'd rather have new Zelda's than remakes. And what I really want to have them do now, is a darker Zelda, with enhanced-ish Twilight Princess-esque graphics. Put that on the Switch 2 and watch it sell!

Zelda twilight princess has some insane lore , what I want is a full blown remake same deungeons and stuff , just more depth to the story ,twilight princess has some amazimg fucking structure to build on , a bit of world building and depth to the story would make it amazing , you know like showing how the people of hyrule suffer from twilight , explore zant a bit more , show us an actual war between light and twilight in the end , add character deaths , if ypu wanna make a dark game just go full in and add deaths , and explain the story a bit more , I know zelda is usually not meant to be played for the story but for the dungeons and stuff , but cmon tp has so much structure and could hold one of the best stories in gaming

I think it'll already play 4k on switch 2 using the original cart. Thousand year door already had 4k mode in the code which leads me to believe switch games will run enhanced on switch 2 in backwards compatability.

I personally rather have proper graphical remasters like what Metroid Prime got last year, but at this point, just having another simple upscale release of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on a Switch family console with more Quality of Life improvements to the gameplay experience is better than continuing to have the Breath of the Wild era of Zelda shoved down our throats. Nintendo needs to just move on from BotW already. If it hasn't already been stale before, it most certainly is now! The game has aged absolutely poorly!

I don't understand why Nintendo won't just give the fans what they have been begging for for years and make HD remasters of both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess! People would also go insane for an Ocarina of Time remake! My personal favorite Zelda game is Majora's Mask and I would love a remake of that one! We do not need a remaster of BOTW or TOTK because they are still pretty recent. And frankly TOTK sucks! BOTW was better but still kind of lacking. If they do make remasters of BOTW and/or TOTK, I will not be buying them! ... Ok I might if it's just a $10 upgrade, but definitely not if it's a whole new $70 game! If they continue to make Zelda games like those two, I don't know if I'll be purchasing them.

My thoughts exactly. TOTK is one of my least fav and BotW will never be better than OoT, MM, WW or TP. It was fun while it lasted but unlike the other games I listed, I won't bother to play hero mode or buy HD version if they did release it. Which I did do for WW and TP and I also played MM 3D and OoT 3D on multiple save files.

If oot was remastered I would want something the virtual console didn't seam to fix for 64 games. I remember moving over a platform and I thought I was going strait but I was at slight angle and fell like that part in the fire temple where you gotta race up a stareway to get the hammer before the fire turnes back on. I kinda feel a few mechanical adjustments would make the game better. The 64 was the first 3d nintendo console and I understand some things wer still being adjusted but I would exspect some upgrades beyond what the wii' wii u and 3ds did with the game.

I think it makes sense for this reason: Breath of the Wild and the entire graphical system of that game was built to run on the Wii U and the Switch. The Switch version runs at a higher resolution and has a few improvements like sounds and water effects, but they're mostly the same. If this is truly new, much more powerful hardware, then I don't see why they couldn't develop a pretty drastic upgrade for the Switch 2 over what is essentially a glorified Wii U game and graphical level of detail. Off the top of my head better textures, lighting effects, smoother shadows, more realistic water and clouds, load times for fast travel and shrines, resolution and frame rate. They could probably also upgrade some of the details on the ground around and have greater detail when zooming in to far away objects. It could also include all of the DLC and to sweeten the deal maybe they could add some new DLC, Switch 2 exclusive armor and weapons, horses, etc.

The way i see it, it won't be just a straightforward 4k remaster, but like a proof of concept tech demo on title everyone is familiar with. Maybe adding a hardware supplemented mechanic, akin to the Wii U gamepad functionality. Which many believe made the Wii U BotW the definitive version.

@@stephkm3655 I’m just speculating the reasons for the name. For instance the 64 was for the first 64 bit hardware for Nintendo and upgrade over 16 bit and also trump Sega 32 bit systems. Revolution symbolizes the new way to play games. NX or Nintendo cross, which symbolizes the hybrid console mobile/home. Now Ounce with abbreviations is usually OZ(commercial name possibly related to Wizard of Oz?) or it could just be symbolize for 02 or Switch 2.

What I want is an HD Ocarina of Time remake. Like a proper color pallet true HD graphics OoT once and for all since even OoT 3D is ancient now. And hell, a MM would be great too. Maybe make the OoT remake be a remake of Master's Quest so that players can enter into the temples with a bit of a mixed up design to keep it fresh if they need that.

Fact is that BOTW and espacially TOTK are games which are so big and so fleshed-out, that it was always a shame that they were limited by the Switch's poor performance. That is also why sooo many people emulate them on PC with better graphics. In my opinion, a port to a better and faster Switch 2 is very much needed.

They are very similar games. If they make a remaster for Botw to replace a traditional tech demo, they couod easily convert some of the improved assets and tricks for Totk. I wouldn't expect new content or even major changes to existing content because it would probably be better spent on actual original games to take full advantage of the better hardware from the ground up, they really don't have to get too fancy to go "see? These types of gains can be expected on minimum!"

How would TWO Big ass 8 inch screens fair around with the joycons? And how would you hold that? If you are talking about something like the Wii U, why would they go back to a failed concept? Wii U‘s biggest issue was bad marketing, not its features and surely not the quality of its games - most of which were ported over to the Switch and became big hits. In fact, the Switch is a reiteration of the Wii U’s “offscreen” feature. It simply went one step further.

@@Dosnmeda Wii U's most promoted feature was asymmetrical gameplay. Unfortunately Nintendo failed to justify it with like less than 10 games which properly used it. Being a complete independent handheld console is not what I will call just "a step further" from Wii U's off-TV feature which required you to mere meters away from the Wii U. People carry their Switch around for travels, they didnt do that with the Wii U. DS and 3DS double screens made sense because the screens were tiny. Having two screens offered the possibility to display more information without distraction. A big 8inch screen does not have that problem.

I would love new content, imagine more boss fights and monsters, and the depths map with new shiekah tech in it include 5 more divine beasts as we know BOTW hinted the depths and it would be nice to see what it looked like before the upheaval

I understand the love for BOTW and rightfully so. Regardless of sharing an almost identical yet expanded map, TOTK will always be the more complete game to me. Just so much more to do. It was the first time I ever had a Zelda game approach the level of expansion of Fallout or Elder Scrolls game. So much to do. The harder difficulty really helps BOTW but I found the difficulty level of TOTK to be more challenging and fun compared to BOTW on normal mode. With the Sky Islands I feel like TOTK would benefit more from the extra power next gen consoles would have. But as others have mentioned, TP would be great also

If the Switch 2 is pretty much OG Switch with just better hardware, then they need not make the Remaster from scratch! Ryujinx (RIP) had a build that lets users use upscaled textures and add some code tweaks for 60 fps. Surely this can also be possible on a powerful Switch.

It was pretty clear that a mega title like BOTW would get a remaster, the potential that BOTW had could never be used, because it was originally a WiiU title, so it was clear that it would get a remaster. In my opinion much too early, a Twillight Princess would have deserved it much more and will probably be desired more. I also think that TOTK will get a remaster

Well, it doesn’t make sense to me if it is a full game price release, but if it is indeed a “own the game, pay a little for upgrade” type of situation I’d be down for that. That is a good “entry price” showcase for the new hardware for a very big target group that already own the game either physically or digitally. That’s pretty smart tbh. Just include the DLC from the beginning too. Like BOTW Ultimate Edition or something.

There's a TotK master mode coming for the Switch 2, that not only adds content, but will improve graphics. I have not heard that it's coming for the Switch 1. Realise the Switch 2 will be seen as an upgrade path, not a new console era. The Switch 2 is said to also have a basic projector in one controller.
