Great program. There is no better way to learn the true history of this island than listening to Prof. Somadeva. The education the young children has never been getting from the public education system on their own history can actually be received from this program.
This program is like a drug for me. These genius combined the stories and facts in very interesting method. Thank you sir and nuwan jude my friend. Warm Regards!
I have heard from a school teacher who used to work in a remote area in Anuradhapura somewhere in 1930s or 1940s that the descendants from Saliya Ashokamala were living in that remote area. The stories have been passed down from generations to generations by word of mouth. However, it was a news to me when I heard it but now I feel it could have some truth.
And I wish and expect you will debate with Mr Kandegama about Rawana's history..do you?

Further to my previous comment What I heard was that they were a very small group and a separate cast. Unfortunately I can't remember the csat. But I it is not a common cast. Apparently they had some special customs belonged to that cast too.
Throughly enjoyed this episode. Kataragama kshatriyas being redressed as Haldummulla kshatriyas is fine if that is recorded in the grave inscription in addition to the DNA evidence. Otherwise, it is like claiming in some future era that Europeans had populated SL because we started to use coffins & tombstones in the past few centuries. Technology travels quicker than people and vast changes in population requires an explanation of the previous population. For the mountain-folk to populate the rest of SL requires either a population displacement or an extinction of the previous population of the planes and coasts.

There are so many temples (Daham paasal) in Australia that teach Buddhism . If they sent children at their young age to these schools they will defiantly have a faith in Buddhism.

A similar incident had happened in UK. Queen Elizabeth's father had to take over the throne because, his brother gave up throne due to his getting married to a divorced woman.

lately you mentioned Naga gothrika. Some people said Naga gothrika is salesman did sales through the rivers too. She asked Dutugamun king not to go to Thissawave because sales people are there and her husband is near the TISSAWAVE. Dutugamun is so powerful so this King of the salesman couldn't approach the King Dutugamun. But waited the correct moment to kill because insulting him having his wife. Naga gothrika maybe stayed other side of the river. Theruwansarani!🙏

Sir we don't need to look back too far the king Edward viii of United Kingdom abdicated the throne in 1936 to marry Wallis Simpson. Further, the archbishop of Canterbury played the central role in entire scandal which lead to eventual abdication of king.
You should read Mahawansha written by Mahanama thero who lived in Mahavihara. Then you will see how much corrupted Buddhism at those days. When politics mixed with religion it's a tragedy
I have read in books of Ellawala Medhananda Thero that King Dutu Gamunu also had a daughter by his Chief Queen Abi Rajithe. She was named after Queen's mother as Princess Abi Tissa (Rajite's mother was another Princess Abi Tissa). If I'm correct she was married to Captain Velusumana's son and they also had a son. This information has been discovered from the inscriptions of Ampara. Can you please clarify?

Sir, Can you please kindly mention the references for the storey about the King and the Naga kanya. Asking on behalf of many others who may have the same question. Thank you!
Was it a case like that of Cleopatra; he had died peacefully. Perhaps same thing happened to Konappu Bandara just after a year or so after teaching a lesson to Portuguese. Perhaps palace coups.

Well, King Dutugamunu had other consorts beside Queen Ranmanika. Those were different times. Polygamy was socially accepted, especially when it came to royalties.
