Patriarchy is so common in Indian families. Bhandarkar’s house is no exception. Here men take all the important decisions and females are bounded with the kitchen duties and routine management. Kavya is a typical Mumbai modern girl, she is absolutely a misfit in this household and she is not ready to compromise with her self-respect and dignity. Ritesh her loving husband is also a product of the patriarchal mindset. Her mother-in-law Subhadra stood up with her, unlike her personality. Subhadra was a submissive housewife of a male-dominant house. Their bond is unusual, we see a healthy friendship between this contrast. The love for the daughter-in-law made Subhadra realize that her son Ritesh is not the ideal husband and the setup in this house has some serious flaws. The love story between Ritesh and Kavya goes from many ups and downs as the daughter-in-law has decided to fix the rotten mindset of this family with the help of her mother-in-law. Here we see a mother disciplining her son instead of daughter-in-law to make their marriage work.
