Maybe we should include the moment when we use The Train Skill, Himeko saying "Witness the power of the weak", she did not need to go that hard but sheesh the performance is insane !!! Her VA claps my four cheeks at the same time.

I love that. Sunday thought the weak were so because they didn’t have the power to make their dreams come true in reality, so they had to settle for Penacony’s lotus eater version, but Himeko and the rest of the Astral Express crew showed him just how powerful the “weak” are.

Penacony has been nothing short of a fantastic adventure. I'm blown away with the music, animation, and storytelling. I cried multiple times during these quests. So good

I was clowning on Sunday the entire quest (I'm very familiar with his type of religious trauma), but at the end when Robin starts singing during the battle and then Sunday says "the night... is still too short" and Robin hug-catches him I immediately burst into grown up tears. :') as much as i dislike Sunday, I'm glad he was okay in the end and Robin got to be the one who saved him in the end [someone he thought was weak saving the strong!!! ahhhh].

@@dawae4050 he's not hateable *to you. To me, he was very hateable lol. The way they went about writing how he spoke and how the dreammaster spoke about their "god" was very Catholic/Christian 101 and Sunday even had a confessional booth like he was a Catholic priest, and he acted like he had NO choice but to be the leader above all the weak heathens in the world... Like I said, I am very familiar with his type of religious rhetoric and trauma. And I am very familiar with the idea and right of self-determination even if the person isn't making the choices you think is right for them. So his whole schtick and the "moral questions" that he was posing like they were "gotcha!" questions were very eye roll worthy to me. Like I said, it worked out in the end for him and I'm cool with that, but on the way to get there... it just wasn't for me, and that's okay! If you like him it's no skin off my nose. Sunday just isnt the character for me.

I liked him in general for his JP voice acting. The entire story I felt slighty like he had been doing all of it mainly for Robin. Seeing the ending made me so sad and I literally burst into tears at the hug... I rarely do that in stories now aday

Same. He's basically HSR Scaramouche. He and Sunday both: Trapped everyone in an endless dream Harnessed the power of a god Had a giant mech boss Were defeated by the collective will of others Fell in very sad dramatic moment 🥲 Were also rescued by the one opposing them (Nahida giving Scaramouche a second chance and Robin catching Sunday)

@@arreis7866I disagree. He wasn’t manipulated by a god. Gopher manipulated him. His specific story is about religion and religious trauma, while scaramouche’s is about abandonment and betrayal.

@@Suited_Nat I never said he was manipulated by a god? Also not sure what you mean by religious trauma. Sunday himself wanted to make a better world not because some religion compelled him but because he saw how rotten the universe was in his encounters with people on Penacony and felt the best way to achieve that was through The Order. Obviously he and Scaramouche aren't carbon copies of each other. I merely provided a list of story elements they share since they're both written by Hoyo. My post to OP was before anyone was certain Sunday was even playable so I provided this comparison as a way to analyze Hoyo's patterns with their playable and non playable characters. Hope that clarifies better :)
