40 Minutes in to the debate, till AIM came, nobody pointed out Priyanaka's Himachal comment. They all were hiding the gaff. It shows how all other panelists are also like those English-speaking people who clap for mediocre performance of oratory they were criticizing. Certainly true of Pallavi Ghosh, who tweeted after Trump's victory that the U.S. had a long way to go because it had not yet elected a woman president. As though it were a serious indicator. I know it is difficult for the average Indian intellectual to appreciate this, but provided that commonsensical policies rule the roost, the U.S. will remain the greatest country on Earth even if it elects straight white men for the next 250 years.

Dear Suhail, Parliamentary debate is not necessarily a statesman type speeches, it's a debate and a bit of acrimony doesn't make it look intellectual but can be relevant.

All parliamentary debates are now use less. As the mode in which our politics is now is, that each party wants to do maximum of what they want without ceding any ground. So we are at loggerheads now. Muslim appeasement and victimhood and Hindu uprising are at peak now. From hear one has to bow down. Either BJP has to go on Muslim appeasement, or others have to embrace Hindu politics. And status quo will go on till one of the two ideology is beaten to submission now. Parliament me bas ग़ालबज़ई चलती रहेगी, बिना किसी नतीज़े के।

In A Democracy every institution has a right to capture institutions and build the nation in its Image. If we did not want that then we should not have chosen a democratic setup. I guess Nehru realized this early on as he became the PM and started amending the constitution by taking away rights from people. Democracy is a means by which we facilitate the expression of the will of the people. It is upto you to convince them the righteousness of your ways. If you do not, then you are shown the door. That is as simple as that. In electing a group or a party, they entitle them and entrust them to direct the institutions of governance as they deem fit. So the Muslim League should shut up and so should the communists.
