Sunday Funday - Friendly Competition: Archery Edition

In this video me and Mrs.O. battle it out on a ten shot 3D target shoot using IBO scoring to see who the winner will be! Let's see who the champion is 😁

Just so we are all on the same page I do realize several of our shots "missed" our intended target. Worry not though. We both practice at twice the distance we actually "hunt" at. For example, if you are comfortable at taking a big game animal out to 30yds then it is best to practice all summer out to 60 to make those 30yd shots a breeze. That is a good habit to get into IMO. Just wanted to put that out there before we get to much flak on "wounding" our foam targets. Thanks for watching! -The O's

In addition to the great car repair videos, I love the test drives through the town in which you live. It very much reminds me of the small town in Iowa where I lived as a child. I just discovered your videos of shooting and I really am jealous of your property. I wish I could shoot without having to drive almost 100 miles round trip!

Mrs. O - great shooting, but I would suggest you tuck the hoodie drawstring inside the hoodie for shooting. I had them catch the string a few years ago while target shooting, and bad things happened to my compound bow. Had to take it back to the manufacturer to replace all the cables and one of the cams after - they told me I was just lucky to not get injured.

As a shooting sports coach, you both have really good form. Good to see that you guys make it fun and that makes practice that much better!! Only advice I can give and its just that, keep an eye on the release, seems a little target fear maybe at play here. Might of just been that particular day though and we all have days that we are off on, but you guys did great and had fun doing it, thats what its all about!! And you are absolutely spot on the money about practicing further than you hunt!! Be blessed!!

Mannnn, you're living the dream. It's awesome. I'm the same age than you, my girlfriend started hunting deer with me because she was so bored during pandemic and she got her first deer last year with her bow(i got her a Matthews Prima). She gets excited when i talk about deers and when i go check my cameras its soooo funny cause she used to hate hunting, i would have NEVER thought she would ever hunt with me, must be the vaccine (kidding). Anyway, i'm working a government job in Canada and would have loved to be a mechanic like you, this is gonna be my retirement hobby, fixing vehicules of my kids. You both look happy together, i'm happy for you guys, you deserve it all. BTW it was a 10 on that turkey hahaha

Very cool. I enjoy the shooting / archery as I’m not very good at cooking. Plus I have physical limitations and for some reason cooking really causes nasty back pain. Now eating is a totally different story…lol

Happy Birthday Eric! A fun day shooting is great to see. I never shot any kind of competition, but spent many quiet hours waiting for the right shot, to put meat in the freezer. I can still clearly see in my mind, the five minute it took, for my first deer, walking up the edge of a corn field and stopping 25 yards straight in front of me, to the time I tripped the trigger and he went down.

When I was in the marine corps boot camp, one of our drill instructors drove into our heads to not inhale and hold, and not to hold your breath at all. When you hold your breath your body starts to shake...just a little at first, but more as the seconds tick by. The solution was to breathe normal, pull the trigger when your breathing hits bottom (before you inhale), and hopefully you do it right between heartbeats. Sounds impossible, but a bunch of us got it down. With practice you can slow your heart beat down to where the gaps in between beats are bigger. And that's when you fire.
