I *think* "Backup Copy" means that "Ok" is an affirmative response (as in "Copy that"), and "Ok, ok" means you have an extra one, a.k.a. a backup

The E-G-B-D-F mnemonic is for the lines on a staff in the treble clef I've always heard it as "Every good boy deserves fudge"

In the UK it's "every good boy deserves favour " which I translated into Americanese as favor - giving me two five letter answers !

In addition to what others have said, “backup copy” could refer to when you direct someone as they drive in reverse. “You’re good!” “Okay, okay.”

I think "backup copy" is meant as copy = ok (like in radio speech), and backup, because there two of them, so the second is a backup

I call bogus on ALLOWS. I can see that if you read it as the verb "allows" then technically none of the answer appears in the clue. But if you read it as "all ows" it does break that rule. Also, all the other theme answers were phrases with an echoing word (repeating, double, returns, etc.) and then something referencing the rest of the clue "tut-tut" = "mummy" etc. ALLOWS doesn't follow any of those conventions.
