Motivated by Driven by Alex...this is my cruise back home after my Drive with Me vlog...this drive however is minimal talk and mostly exhaust. Enjoy :)

Great Video! I bought me an GR86 in black two weeks ago and its just a perfect drive. But yesterday i was in traffic and had a lot of slow starts in first or second gear and heard that little clunky rattling noise like at the start of the video, when you drive off from the parking lot. I only had 1.0 L machines till this one, is this a normal sound of the motor or clutch ? best regard from europe :)

Thank you for your comment and congrats on the GR86! Our cars are super noisy for the most part but I think that's a mix of motor and clutch. Having driven in my buddies 86 and another buddies BRZ, there are clunks and noises at all times which may be a good or bad thing depending on the driver! Anyway I rather not fully gas it at that part when my car is potentially on 3 wheels because of the steepness lol. Now the noise you really want to avoid is when the dude went to walk infront of me but then backed out and I left it in 2nd gear when I should have been in 1st. While you CAN start from 2nd in this car, you do get a bit of engine lugging which is what you don't want. Anytime I'm rolling under 10 mph I blip the gas a little for 1st. Anything above 11 really mph I'm in 2nd gear. I learned those little quirks from being in stop and go traffic every day for work. If you go back through my channel and look for #42 Drive With Me that includes a pov from a 10+ year manual driver in this car. His exhaust is louder because of the headers but you can hear similar noises haha.

@@thisisKB87 Thank you for your advices and thanks for your infos about the other 86s and brz. Its hard to get information her from other gr86 or brzs cause there are only a few (maybe 6000-8000) in whole europe, because the car got banned for import. But everytime i sit in it i am smiling :)

Thankfully no. The closest I think was Canal area near downtown. Probably one of the worst roads I've driven with Fondren/beltway 8 behind it. but I for sure have scraped on something before lol

Is the GR86 a good car to drive daily?

@@Marclanhenzil If you don’t need to lug around much and are okay with only having one passenger, yes it’s an absolute blast while still having some space to play with if needed. The ride did get a little stiffer with coil overs but I’m already used to it. I’m saving up for a daily driver because I wanna keep this car long term and Im already at 28k miles from daily driving!

I got pretty lucky with my 22 GR86 automatic for 25k used here in the US. Tho I rolled the dice with mine since it was a rebuilt title but fortunately it drives great.

you cant cruise in this car man. The cabin.noise and stiff suspension doesnt make it a therapy drive. Plus the rtv and enginr blowing issue 24/7 at back of your mind. I ha e a 2024 gr86 premium got it brand new. Planning to sell it off after a year.

Perhaps you can't but I can. Yea it can suck with shitty backroads like these but everything else makes up for it. I've taken this car on multiple road trips even with the coil overs on (which make it even stiffer lol) and I still love this car. Also rtv is blown way out of proportion. Take care of your car and you'll be fine. Definitely not a set it and forget type of car.
