In this video I grab my Nikon D200 and sit out on my deck for a couple hours in the wee morning hours, trying to re-capture some of the excitement for photography the the internet has stolen from me. Some great photos and some food for thought. Thanks for joining me!

My photography is very much a contemplative practice and it’s amazing to me how when you pause, you begin to see what you normally miss because you simply don’t stop to look. Whether you are religious or not I believe this quote by Meister Eckhart is the perfect illustration: “The eye through which I see God is the same eye through which God sees me; my eye and God's eye are one eye, one seeing, one knowing, one love.” Thank you for reminding us to pause, be still, and see. 🙏🏽

Those are amazing pics you took. The mountains pic you printed is best of them all, it demonstrates the 3D pop effect the D200 is known for. Thanks .

Those captures are amazing. I was thinking about purchasing a d200 to capture and decorate our home with high quality images. It truly is a capable camera despite being 10mp. Thank you for sharing. You’ve earned another subscriber. Happy Holidays…

Gorgeous photographs. That is great! You have the ultimate in nature, beautiful landscape photography right outside your home. Right off your porch. So many people haven’t viewed those breathtaking landscapes in person ever in their lives. Photography is what you love. What makes you happy, personally. I’ve gone through that low in a life long love of everything with photography. I’ve shot for a few newspapers, that’s gone now. Weddings, portraits and all that making a bit money. I remember think for some reason, I just didn’t get the same joy I once did. Burned out maybe. Around that time; I was really good at finding photography deals at the various auction, sale sites on the web, and Estate sales. Found a really good deal on a Nikon D200. I’ve never used a D200 or so many of the other legendary line of Nikon cameras. I had Minolta/Sony cameras at the time and a D7000. Loved them all but that D7000 was something special. I purchased the D200 and tested it out and was just blown away at the image quality. I Walked around with the D200 for a while. I love street photography as well. This D200 has re-ignited my joy of photography. Then I found a site I could sell the 200 as a great starter camera and make a bit of a profit. Hated to let it go, but this was the plan. Well, long story short; and a few years later of buying and selling cameras. I’ve accumulated a number of great Nikon lenses, camera bags, Nikon accessories that came with the used cameras. I’ve purchased and sold I don’t know how many D200, D300, D300s, D50, D40, D40x, D80, D700, D90 and a few Pentax DSLRS TO BOOT. Huge market for these older cameras. I got to use them all. So much fun and personally fulfilling. In all this buying and selling; I was able to improve my own camera line up with a Nikon D3, Nikon D610, D700, D7200, and a Pentax k3 DSLR. And these are all I will ever need. Sorry about the long winded, but inspired me to share this story.

Wow, you have certainly handled some cameras for sure. Burn out is pretty common I think. Good to hear you are still hanging in there. Thanks, too, for this really interesting comment.

Great video from an oldtrimer like me. My D200 comes today. I can add it to my D3, D3s, D4, D4s and D700s. Love the older Nikons. Ok, I do have a D850 too.

GREAT VIDEO. Iam still learning the D200 and my old manual lenses. Hand held pictures are still hard for me to nail focus. I love when you talk about your settings, ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed, it helps me understand and get better pictures. Learning by imitation. THANK YOU

Hi Ron. I want to ask what are the names of the two mountains you printed. Beautiful photo. I would like to look at the map. I wonder where it is. I also have a D200 and got a Nikon 35-70 D 2.8 and 70-210 D 4 - 5.6 to go with it. I like this zoom combination. Have a nice day.

These mountains are in Alaska's Chugach mountain range. On the left is Pioneer Peak and on the right is Twin Peaks. They are located in the Matanuska Valley . Thank you for watching!

Excellend pics all of them, Ron!!! My favourite are the third and fourth frames of the mountain, placed after the violet flowers (#1 frame) and the tree in the foreground (#2 frame). The mist gives these two mountain pictures a mystical character. Excellent photos!!! I'm a Nikon amateur photographer since my school years. From Athens, Greece!
