Ahh Ron I thought its heavy snow in alaska kept you indoors without having a chance to take pics. BTW belated Happy New Year!🎉😅
@rondayview16 сағат бұрын
LOL~! Thank you. Truthfully we have had about the mildest winter, snow wise, that I've seen since I came to Alaska 38 years ago. I don't think I've had more than 3 inches total at my home. Of course, winter is still far from over for us.

Ron all these pics are of high quality must have taken on a quality film gear. Very precious memories.
@rondayview17 сағат бұрын
Thank you! Nearly all of the film pictures were taken with a Konica Autoreflex T and a Hexanon 52mm { think) f1.8 lens. It was a good combo.

Hi Ron, thanks for sharing these. The most important thing we can do is emulate the style of the past and get photos into albums and such to preserve our most cherished memories. If we remember our loved ones, they may be no longer here but definitely not forgotten. And we have something to share with others that loved them as we did. Nicely done Ron. My friend and I of over 40 years were just reflecting on the same thing. As soon as the weather breaks out here I will be running my glass both film and digital for sure.
@rondayviewКүн бұрын
Thank you, it's nice to hear that our thoughts on photography run along the same lines. The past is important, something any photographer should remember when photographing the present. Thank for watching, I'm waiting for better weather also. Take care.

Good stuff. I remember years ago wanted to buy Lumix FZ series or Fuji HS series bridge camera to start my photography journey and ended up buying an entry DSLR Nikon instead which was the right decision after all. Still like Panasonic camera brand though. Thank you for the video. 👍
@rondayview3 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. The DSLR is a good choice if you want to go in that direction! Cameras are only tools after all.

Ecellent pictures Ron. You are a great photographer. I also did have the FZ 1000 and took marvellous pictures with it (better than with all the Nikon DSLR stuff). However, I my FZ 1000 got a bit slow on the zoom and I have replaced it with the Panasonic G90 with the 14-140 mm (28-300 on FF). I still have to get more in the video work.
@rondayview3 күн бұрын
Thank you. I haven't noticed any zoom problems on the FZ1000, but if I do I might just check out that G90 also. It looks interesting. Thanks for viewing and commenting!

Hi Ron, I just ran thru some pics on the Smugmug page. There are some interesting pics. You look quite a Handsome Hunk in the ' Goat Rock Selfie' pic. Would love to hear some backstory on some of these images. Wishing you good health .
@rondayview7 күн бұрын
Thank You. I was 26-27 years old in that photo. The Goat Rock Wilderness, Washington state, was a favorite spot for me and I backpacked in many times. This particular trip was solo. I stayed for about 5 nights if my memory is correct.

In a newer camera the built in camera battery goes bad before the battery you put into the camera my Sony every time I put in a new battery I have to reset the time on the camera because it can’t remember it and the camera is less than ten years old 😒😒.
@rondayview11 күн бұрын
Hmm. That's interesting.

The only time you get shamed for older gear is at the camera club 🤣🤣🤣. My finances have always dictated that my camera gear to be on the older gear but that said I only buy the best used gear things like a Nikon d300, d700 and canon 5d classic now if I could learn to hold the 5d in as high esteem as everyone else ( I hate the ergonomics 🤷😒😒).
@rondayview11 күн бұрын
I have that same exact finance problem. For a while I tried to keep up with the newest Nikon cameras, but then I realized that new cameras are really a very poor investment. Now, it's the older classics for me and I'm happier.

Hi Ron, wow what an amazing process. Thanks for sharing, it came out very nice. I'm thinking perhaps that was from the D200? Curious about that. I did pick up the D90 and did my first studio shoot with it, the camera did not disappoint. Unfortunately, I have no way to share with you not being on Social Medias myself. I'm probably not gonna have a go at the time lapse thing but maybe sometime, it looks really cool and beautiful. Great job Ron, and thanks again.
@rondayview16 күн бұрын
Thank you! Those images were made with a D600, only because the battery lasted far longer than the battery in the D200. It might have had something to do with the extreme cold temperature, but I'm not sure.
@Mr.Nobody_etc.16 күн бұрын
Hi Ron, great video once again. I work in IT so I know well the backup issue. The best choice nowadays is a traditional spin drive external. I recently was gifted a Western Digital Elements drive. It's 5 Terabytes, that should be enough for anyone. I was not keen on the Western Digital for some time due to past issues such as the famous "Click of Death", but they have come a long way and the unit is well made and very fast. Price is not that bad either. I would be surprised if you have more that 5T to store, that's an awful lot of photos .. lol
@The_Hero_Is_Back16 күн бұрын
And keep your spare disk elsewhere. Don’t keep your backup in the same building as your main computer.
@rondayview16 күн бұрын
Western Digital is what I am using. I've had mixed luck with them, but I continue to use their products. I've accepted the conclusion that, eventually, all digital photo files will disappear and that the only way to save the image will be to actually make an archival print of the ones you care most about. Thanks for watching, and for the comment, too. You are appreciated.

That was an interesting excursus to be honest. I've never heard of SmugMug before, it looks like some sort of a more "serious" platform than flickr. However I don't know about storing my photos online. I'm more the hard drive kinda guy as I know my files are stored right here where I live and not on somebody's server. But maybe that's just the conservative german guy inside me. Thanks for sharing this video, it's definitely worth taking a look at some online based storage options, I'd say. Keep up the work, buddy, it's excellent! And stay healthy!
