I can totally relate to how you feel about Christmas decor this year. I went to the grocery store Friday and they already had Valentine's Decor/food out. The older I get the more it bothers me the way the retailers push holidays down our throats.

I appreciated that you took out the time to talk about Thanksgiving and decorated accordingly. I purposely decorated my tree two weeks before Christmas. And it will stay up until January 6.( We celebrate the three kings day). And I've watched you for some time, so l know you do the same. So yes, l agree with you. I agree 100%! Collectively we all complain about how fast time flies, but then we decorate for the next season 3 months early and don’t enjoy the season we’re in! Hi Tiffany, Happy New Year's Eve! I am probably in the minority, but I just love my Christmas decor, take the month of November to put it all up and do not take it down until mid-February! It does not usually snow much here in CT until Jan/Feb, so it is nice to still be able to light my trees up during those cozy months. I am also retired now, so I am home much more to enjoy it! I go right from Christmas decor to my spring/Easter decor. I enjoy your videos! ❤

Hello beloved, I believe because of your content I was able to get into the Christmas mood/spirit much more easily and stay in it. I enjoyed decorating my house and our RV for Christmas this year. It was a wonderful year for me and I thank you. Last year, however was a very hard year for me. My husband did 99.9% of the decorating, shopping and wrapping of presents. That was ok and I was ok with that. It's ok to just be ok. Thank you for being raw and real. I appreciate all that you share and I thank you for taking us along with you. Tiffany, one of the things you could do are shorts as you purchase things for whichever seasonal decor you just bought instead of an entire video, let us know when, where and cost and then say “I won’t put out my “blank season” decorate with me until I decorate around this normal time for my family. Then, when you do decorate you can show us where you are placing those new items in your home. I was burnt out with all the videos from all the channels that were decorating seasonally 2+ months prior to the actual month let alone the “season” of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas- big overload on top of the store overload. You do what YOUR FAMILY tradition is and we will be there when you post.

This is the first time that I, with the help of my granddaughter are taking decorations down tomorrow. We have always waited until after Little Christmas, but this year I was tired of it before we started decorating... Decorated minimally, very simple, still lovely. Just ready for a clean, New Year... I always wait until the weekend after the first so what ever that date may be. Some I transition into “Winter” decor. After working in Retail for over 20 years I will tell you that as soon as I saw HL with Christmas out so very early, my first thought was that they were really overstocked. Meaning probably due to all the supply chain issues in the first two years of Covid, the merchandise from those years arrived along with this year’s merchandise. And also, in this economy they were hoping to get more needed sales by putting it out early. It is always sad when a person loses the spirit. We do need to be intentional. After spending all those years in retail, working every holiday including Christmas, I now cherish the Holidays since I am retired!

I love Christmas and I felt no pressure to put it up or take it down. I just do what brings me joy. I wanted mine up in July but made myself wait until October and just took it down January 8th. I say do what brings you joy. Life is short. ❤

Good for you to commit not to get caught up in the frenzy. I do mot put up Christmas before Thanksgiving which is my favorite holiday. We cheat ourselves out of both holidays when we decorate too early for Christmas. I decorate for Christmas first week of December or so and take it down New Year’s day. Hello Tiffany! Love your videos! We put our Christmas decorations out the weekend of Thanksgiving. We take them down the day after Christmas. I don't think there is anything much sadder than a tree up with no gifts. To me, once Christmas is over, I am always ready to get my house back to normal. If I left things up, it would just overwhelm me thinking there was a big job ahead of me to do and I would no longer enjoy the decorations. It may sound extreme, but that is how I am every year. I thoroughly enjoy Christmas and the reason for the season from the day after Thanksgiving to the day after Christmas. But, things up for one month is long enough for me. When I really like something, I take pictures too! And I reprise the same vignettes year after year with very minor tweaks. It makes decorating easier and more automated, which is necessary when you still have little kids and need to spend as little time as possible decorating so we don’t get behind on essential things.

Tiffany, I just can’t stand how “commercial” Christmas is being shoved down our throats earlier and earlier each year. I love to decorate myself but I do it to celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus and to thank Him for my many blessings. A beautiful time to get together with family and friends. My tree goes up after December 1st and comes down after January 6th (per my late italian mama)😉As far as outside decorating, my candles stay in the windows until at least the end of January. I decorate day after thanksgiving. I watched the christmas decorarating videos while I decorated but not before. I bought no decor. 42 yrs of marriage so I have a lot. My christmas decor will be taken down the weekend of the 13/14th. Then I will bring out my valentine decor to add to the winter decor..it is rainy and chilly. Enjoying the fire and christmas tree. I was brought up to leave until after New Year, thought to be bad luck if you took down earlier. Since being married I have often heard leaving Christmas decor up longer is like taking old work into the New Year. So all my Christmas came down today on New Year's Eve. Glad to have it done and back in the building. Thanksgiving and Christmas both my husband and I was both sick, sinusitis and bronchitis..and then 3 days before Christmas, Covid got us. I really struggled to even do even decor. But thankful to be feeling much better. I hate the feeling of blah when I take down my tree and lights. I normally leave mine up until the first full weekend of January. So next week at this time I will be doing exactly what you did today in this video. I like you felt rushed seeing all of the other videos of people I watch on You Tube, putting up their Christmas and its full blown. It was many of them 1 of November. And your right Hobby Lobby had stuff up in June in August I was getting emails from them for Christmas. My problem is I see different items and I rush to Hobby Lobby to buy items I like fearing they may not have them next year, that I overspend. I want more items for winter decor and need to see what is out there. Here in New York State, Rochester where I'm from we're into the doom and gloom as you are very little sunshine and just that dank damp feeling. I am so productive when I see sunshine which we are lacking. I hope that you have a great New Years! Tiffany, your content is very much your own, so I don't think you need to follow anybody else's rules on when and how to decorate. We follow you because you are unique and your own person. At the same time, we need to keep a blind eye to marketing pressures. For instance, I went to a store just the weekend before Christmas and I see shorts, t-shirts and swimsuits! Tiffany here in the Rockies our winters are very long. After Christmas I decorate for winter using lots of lighting from LED pillars and fairy lights and a smaller winter tree from Hearth and Hand with berries, oranges and some rustic corrugated metal cardinal ornaments. I use wax warmers for more positive sensory input. All of those things are what helps us to enjoy winter, and get through blizzards. When the power goes down we've got pretty lights everywhere! This year I was gifted a Happy Light. I don't get seasonal affective disorder but I'm looking forward to using it and see what benefits it holds!

(Jane) I typically leave the tree and decorations up until just after January 1st but since that falls on a Monday this year I didn't want to wait until next weekend to get it done. I started yesterday (Saturday) morning and was able to get everything down, cleaned and boxed up, finishing up this afternoon. Then my husband took it all down to the basement and got it on the shelves. It feels good to be done! I always take pictures of my seasonal decorations every year and it makes it so much easier to get started the next year, even if I change things up. It helps remind me of things I use that aren't strictly seasonal. I can't wait to see some of your organizational tips!

I agree about the rush through the holidays. It becomes a blur as people are reaching for the next holiday instead of enjoying the one they are in. I understand that channels want/need to generate income but from a subscriber point of view, my response to the frenzy is that I tend to tune out. One thing I did want to point out is that one of the reasons that Hobby Lobby starts in mid-summer is because that is when artisans and crafters who sell like I do are working on product for our fall/winter sales.

Tiffany, I start my decorating after Halloween, by adding a few winter items in with late fall items. Then around Thanksgiving, I pull out the fall things and take my time putting out Christmas items. Our tree doesn’t go up until the week before Christmas, which is a habit we got into when our kids were in college. We waited for them to come home to decorate the tree, and even though it’s been many years, I still do it the same. However, I leave my tree and my wreaths up until later in January, which gives me relaxed time to enjoy them. As far as things, being out in the stores, so early, I look, but after 52 years of marriage, I add minimal decorations. In fact, this is the year that I’m going to do a major destash, let’s see how that goes😂. Your home was decorated beautifully, but we all know when it’s time to move on to Winter decor minus Christmas.

Yes ! Same here. The week before Christmas my husband had to go for an emergency triple heart bypass and I was just done with it all. Stressed to the max. I absolutely love Christmas BUT I got a little burnt out and overwhelmed with it all by the time Halloween was over. I also think next year I am taking it slow one holiday at a time. Enjoy each one and not rush any of them ❤

I agree 100% that we start seeing Christmas way too early. I don't decorate until after Thanksgiving and undecorate January 6th, little Christmas. Half my family was sick for Christmas so we had part 2 yesterday, the 30th. I love the glow at night of all the twinkling lights and will miss it when it comes down. I do like a clean slate after the 6th and love to reorganize and redecorate but for now I'm still enjoying it. Some people decorate for Christmas in October, not me I like to give each holiday their time. Hi! Completely agree about Christmas. This year, I only went to Hobby Lobby twice between October and Christmas and I avoided the Christmas decor in other stores until Thanksgiving week. I didn’t watch any Christmas decor, food, or travel videos until Thanksgiving week as well. We had such a long, hot, dry summer here in the Deep South that it was impossible to get “in the mood” for Christmas until around the end of November anyway. I do think it helped me enjoy the actual holidays a little more because I wasn’t burned out on it. My tree and nativities are the only things still up. Will probably take the tree down tomorrow and I’ll leave my nativities up until the 6th. As for winter, we don’t really have much of one here. No snow at all. But, I’m in no rush for it to leave because summer is awful and I feel like that is all we had this year. I’m ready to enjoy the few days of cooler weather we have in January and February.

I’m so with you on your thoughts about sm and Christmas decor right after Halloween. By mid November I couldn’t stand to watch one more Christmas decor video. I usually put everything away on January 1st. Sometimes I’ll take down all the décor right after Christmas Day but leave the tree up until the new year.

I completely relate to the Christmas decor overload. I felt pressured (from within) to get Christmas up before Thanksgiving and I never do that. I didn’t because I have a new home and I hosted Thanksgiving but as soon as it was over I felt rushed to get Christmas up. I didn’t really enjoy it this year and that’s a shame. It was our first Christmas in the new house and also our first as grandparents so it should have felt magical. I took everything down the day after and had it all put up by the 27th.

I buy the label sleeves at Amazon (3x5 index size). they stick to the tote, have a clear sleeve, and I just add blank index cards into the sleeves and change the index card as I change out the tote. Best thing I ever purchased! 100 pack is approx $18 but they have lasted years stored in an outside building without coming off the totes.

I 100% agree with you about the rush to Christmas this year. I was in a frenzy, because it just came up so fast, and unexpected. We took our tree and most of the Christmas decor down yesterday, which is the earliest we've EVER taken it down. The rest comes down today. I think that going from heavy fall decor straight into heavy Christmas decor is overwhelming, and I started to feel suffocated. Happy to have it all down and back to my everyday, neutral decor.

I really enjoyed your Christmas decor this year and I also totally understand what you mean. My husband requested the tree to stay up through the New Year but everything else has come down. There is such a push-pull of pressure around decor and holidays, with social media and even the retail environment. I went into Home Goods a few days before Christmas and was smacked in the face by pink hearts and Valentine's decor. It was beautiful but I was caught off guard and could not find anything I was looking for (Christmas hand towels for my powder bath). I was surprisingly almost sad! Thank you for addressing the "let's decorate two months before the holiday" problem that is on Social Media and retailers are pushing. I think if we the consumers really stick to our guns and not participate in this nonsense perhaps we can make a change. In my late teens/early twenties I worked at a Macy's (the mall) and they did not put things up like now. It was also called "The Day After Thanksgiving Sale". I adore decorating - but society has gone way too far with all of it. Consumerism at it's finest! Next year, maybe I will put the tree up and decorate it for Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and then Christmas! For those of us that live in a lot of gloom (Michigan here) I recommend little glow lamps, fairy lights etc. to keep that festive mood. I hope you have a Happy New Year and many blessings in 2024!!

Jan 1st has always been put away day for us. We put it up Thanksgiving weekend so by the time new year's day comes I'm ready.

I know exactly what you mean about the social media pressure. I realized I am subscribed to waaay too many channels. I unsubscribed from many or most of the channels, cleared my instagram, oh I could go on! But just know youre not alone, I sooo get it, more than you know!

Hi Tiffany, Yes I took mine down earlier (Thurs.) then I usually do took my time putting it away.Yesterday cleaned and made it cozy for winter.This morning I got up to snow finally coming down.Chritmas Day it was 55 outside.Last year it was a high of 15.So I know we still have a least 3 months ahead of us sometimes more.Have a wonderful NewYear.

Taking my decor down today. I agree, I could not watch Christmas content in Oct/nov. And it drives me crazy seeing the stores put out Christmas in Aug.😮

My decor is up yet and i plan to leave it for at least another week...maybe two. I am completely in agreement with the early decorating! And i get so tired of all the influencers saying, get it now before it sells out. Its such a scarcity mindset and it takes away the joy! It just becomes pressure to buy what someone else loves..and we all fall for it! I would love to see more people reuse what they have with some creativity next year. This is clearly just my opinion, but i agree with another on here that the older i get the more i get disgusted with rushing through every season and holiday...and i say that as a 46 year old. Slow down everyone and enjoy life (talking to myself here too!).

This year especially felt like all things holiday were put out so much earlier 😕 I hate that it makes the season feel rushed and forced. Even my 10yr old daughter commented that Christmas just didn’t feel like Christmas this year.

I avoided all Christmas videos prior to Thanksgiving. I enjoy taking one holiday at a time. I appreciated you doing the same. I was still able to take inspiration from you and purchased the candles for my tree. Everyone loved them.

I felt that way too. Two weeks before Christmas I wanted to take things down but didn’t. I felt so over it. I’m going to do things differently next year too.

Thanks for the inspo! I felt the same way this year. I took down Christmas yesterday and that’s the earliest I’ve ever done it. Even though I decorated after Thanksgiving I was seeing it for months prior everywhere else 😅

Love hearing you talking about taking down Christmas early. We took ours down yesterday when normally I take it down the weekend after new year-ish. I needed a break, a clean slate and maybe because 2024 starts on a Monday and I feel like it makes sense...? We still have the tree up but no ornaments because we forgot to bring home the tree box but I was tempted to just take it apart and throw it into the garage LOL. It is weird this year because I LOVE CHRISTMAS TIME and I was itching to take things down on the 26th haha

Same. I usually take my Christmas decor down after 3 Kings (January 6th) but this year, I was so over it after Christmas, not sure why, but I took all of mine down yesterday!

My Christmas is down also. I’m usually sad to take it down but this year it feels like a nice clean slate to have it gone! I do think social media is taking some of the joy out of it because we all are trying to keep up with what everyone else is doing. I actually saw a few content creators who didn’t buy much of any Christmas decor for this very reason!

I have one of those little red wagons, too. But mine stays out year round with a plant in it. I don't see it as Christmas decor only. But I saw you put yours away with the Christmas things. Weather here in southeastern Ohio has been cloudy and rainy, but fairly warm, low to mid 50's. And I'm like you....bring on the snow! I don't like all this rain and dreariness, it's so depressing. I normally take Christmas decor down the weekend of New Year's but haven't gotten to it yet this year. Winter decor will stay up till I switch to the Spring stuff (March). I feel the same way about Christmas this year...too early. I watch a few KZbinrs and refused to watch their Christmas decor videos until after Thanksgiving. I don't understand the need to rush the seasons. I actually just saw a girl who took down her Christmas decor and is putting up her Spring things! Oh, heck no, I am not watching those videos yet 😂. I totally agree with you about decorating so early. All my decorations are down with the exception of our tree which I will take down after New Year’s Day. Happy new year to you and your family!!
