Most people hate change because it means uncertainty. Times of change are times of clouds and shadows where it is difficult to see the way forward. The season of Advent is the time of clouds and shadows that precedes Christmas. The season of Advent portends the coming of Christmas but does not allow the celebration of Christmas. The season of Advent is a season of change and uncertainty, and we hate it. But Christmas is coming soon, and then we can celebrate because Immanuel, our God will be with us. However, in the clouds and shadows of Advent we can only hope and trust in the promise of His coming. In those days...we can only watch and wait.
