Amazing video. Ottawa downtown looks like a small big city: modern buildings, but not too high, lots of people, but not too crowded. It must be an excellent place to live!

I used to live there in the early 70s. I miss it still. But I SO wish that you had inserted street names etc or even a map, as I have lost my bearings. I lived in Linden Terrace - 23 - and before that Monkland Avenue - 27 - and before that Kanata....when it was TINY. Started 68, Stephen Leacock school. Then Sir Robert Borden, then Earl of March, then St Pats High...and left in 73. And oh, Lord, I miss it. My sisters went to Elmwood, we knew the Trudeaus and the Galloping Gourmet, our next door neighbour was Malak Karsh, and Dad set up the first medical facility in Kanata. Talk about cramming it in!

Steve I was at St Pat's HS too, the Campanile campus, on Heron Road in the early 70s. Awesome HS, the best! Played football there, I remember Father Schraeder and Mr Vullins and Mr Quinn and Mr Palumbo and Father Thomas and Father Kelly and OMG so many others. Dan Akroyd was 2 years ahead of me, he played Sir Thomas of Becket in the theatre. The entire campus is now a govt training centre, what a shame. Good memories.

Rick I visited St Pats with Marc Bourdeau in 1999 on a brief visit back. I was only there about 18 months. Do you remember any of your classmates? I particularly remember Judy Denault....oh, I thought she was lovely. There was Dave Moores, Brian Martineau, Jim Bowie (now sadly dead) and Alex Kovacs, who committed suicide a month before I visited. Loved it....cooking class was great fun.

Down town Traffic in Ottawa is Horrible, especially during Rush Hour. There are Tons of One Ways, and if you are New to the City and don't have a GPS to Navigate you, you will be very confused if you are trying to get to a certain destination. Ottawa Valley and Gatineau parks is where driving is at!

Question: Minutes 11:15 when you are on your way to turn left. Why it has a fourth light underneath the green? Will at some point give a priority arrow, or what is the purpose? I went to drive downtown for the first time, but got confused on that since I was getting used to have the third row with either a green light or a green arrow.
@rickcavtube3 жыл бұрын
That 4th light on the bottom will become a green arrow pointing left. So, for a short time, traffic can turn left but cannot go straight through.

@rickcavtube3 жыл бұрын
Moscow is the world's coldest capital city, Ottawa is the second coldest. But summers in Ottawa can some days be scorching. Ottawa's claim to weather fame is that it has the highest extremes of any capital: we can go from -40 degrees Celsius in winter (not always but not unusual) to +40 Celsius in summer (not often but not unusual). So that 80 degree range is pretty huge.

First time I arrived to Vancouver in 2018, I shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, , Netherland, Germany and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities . Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. I'm so sorry for Canada. Canadian and Canadian Government don't care about this tragedy. I think everything say about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not truth. You don't need travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some video about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec. You will find the truth.
@plantbasedsenior4240 Жыл бұрын
You didn't watch the video. The streets are very clean. I have lived and worked (downtown) in Ottawa my entire life. It is a beautiful, clean city. You obviously have some sort of hate on for Canada.
@alborzdmavandi8190 Жыл бұрын
@@plantbasedsenior4240 Hi, my dear friend. I certainly do not hate Canada or any other country. I came to Ottawa last summer and walks downtown and around Parliament. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Less than every 100 meters, a homeless person and a pile of garbage around. It was unbelievable. In Vancouver - Toronto - Montreal - Edmonton - Regina - Calgary - Saskatoon and Winnipeg the same and maybe worse. I have traveled to Australia - New Zealand - Germany - Holland - England - Sweden - Italy and lived in the eastern United States for 3 years. I have never seen anything like what I saw in Canada. Australia - New Zealand - Sweden, and the Netherlands were unparalleled in cleanliness. In the US you only see it in very specific places, not all over the city. I think there is a lot of exaggeration about Canada. I saw neighborhoods In Vancouver - Toronto - Montreal - Regina - Saskatoon and Winnipeg that were not even in developing countries like them. I really don't know if this is a cultural problem or a shortcoming of the local-provincial or federal governments in Canada!
