Halfway through looking at the Z-8 the camera jumps to the motor - I thought I was looking at a 12 or 15. That's a massive motor for a little 8! It wasn't until Jake put his hands back on the motor that the perspective corrected itself. Also, I see a Showtime Remy part time'ing it as a camera man in the polished motor end plate! Wish I was there!

I'm just impatiently waiting for the M series. I just wonder about its efficiency since it can play in sealed as well.

I’m anxious to know what the release dates and prices are for the SA-1T and SA-3M. They maybe perfect for my sound quality a-pillar build.

Been waiting on that m series for awhile Would be nice to have a lower powered system, like 2 m 18s in a 6th would be insane on 5k clamped and clean

What’s with the weird voice coil sizes 2.75 -> 3” 3.3” -> 3.5” or 4”
@jacobfuller98935 күн бұрын
For the Z-8 I tested a 3 inch and it was significantly inferior. Less linear. Less stroke. And wears out the spider faster. The 2.75 was perfect. The 3.3s are new to us but we'll be using it more often. Gains about 15% surface area without losing much spider - almost no appreciable amount.

They already make a z15 bro lol

I just assumed that manufacturers would step up the voice coil wire gauge, like from 26 to 24, when they are building a lower impedance coil. That way the thickness of the voice coil would be very similar in either impedance. I don't know, I might be oversimplifying it. Lol

I think Jacob doesn't need your advice... I think he knows what he's doing.... lol
@jacobfuller98935 күн бұрын
Generally doesn't work out that way. The lower impedance is generally significantly fatter in round wires. Flat wire alleviates this issue nicely but has its own drawbacks. I've developed a round wire winding method to keep round wire coils about the same OD between the two coils - it's pretty novel and I've been using it in the X8 since the V1.
