Pretty ingenious to include the sliding weights for tuning, the magnets could also be used to drive an electromagnetic pick up as per the electric guitar. A door spring stretched and mounted inside could increase sustain and reverberation

I think this is incredibly innovative because unlike a hang drum or Rav Vast (as much as I love the timbre of the Rav - so superior to the hang drum), your pallet for notes is augmented significantly without having to buy a whole other drum. Not a bad tone on this (Sun Drum) either ~

I got an Idiopan Dominus, it is amazing and I play it every day. It is very similar to this in the way that it is also tunable but it is metal. It sounds amazing and was well worth my money.

Different, but in a way, yes, although this is tunable and has pickups. Plus it's about $5000 less expensive.

Check out the "hamgam" made by Majid drums on you tube. It is even more like the handpan and has tunable heads.
