Keybored, Do you have experience swapping springs on the sunflower switch? What spring weight do you prefer? Thank you. Do you find the spring on the sunflower 67g too strong? I bought both boba u4t 62g and sunflower switch because of this video. Overall I feel the sunflower switch is superior in build quality (evident when opening and closing the switch). While I like the sound of boba u4t, the sunflower feels more premium to type on (not sure if the spring weight cause the feeling). Now I wondering if I should change the spring of the sunflower to 63.5gram or 65gram durock spring to get the best of both world, maintaining superior housing while lowering spring resistance for more comfortable typing, without feeling cheap like boba u4t. PS: sorry I don't mean to offend anyone. I still love the boba u4t and have it in my kbd67 v3 aluminum board. I don't think u4t is cheap, it's just not as premium built as the sunflower...just my honest opinion.

After a few days of use the tactility wasn't fatiguing to type on and the upstroke problem wasn't there anymore.

I dont know how scientific is the switch duel method, but does that mean we can actually have more ways to proof/unproof that "all brown are the same"? Hi doubleOZ! Both the boba u4t and sunflowers seem to have long stems. Does this mean I can technically use any of them with cherry profile keycaps without interference? Cause from what some people have suggested, if your switches have long stems there's not going to be any sort of interference on north facing led boards because the switch stem sticks up a little bit when bottomed out and it's not flush with the casing.

From experience, some of these cherry profile keycaps have more material and can interfere. But for the most part, the long stems do help here, so the chances of it are lower!

which do you prefer, c3 kiwi or sunflower? im really confuse which to choose between those two
@Keybored3 жыл бұрын
Funny how you ask, since I had this exact conversation with a friend this weekend with a batch of sunflowers and batch of Kiwis sitting out on a desk... I actually prefer the sunflower over the Kiwi. The Kiwi has slightly better stem tolerance and does feel a tad bit smoother to me, but the sound is sooo high pitched. The sunflower has better sound characteristics and more personality than the Kiwi I feel. The other side of the argument was that if you do drop halo stems into the kiwi and make "holy kiwis" then that becomes a fairly interesting switch, but that requires much more work and cost. As of today, I would take sunflowers Vs. the Kiwis, unless I needed the kiwis for their look... or really want a smooth tactile with a high pitched sound.

@@Keybored Awesome! Ofc im budget wise. I need kiwi's aesthetic, but also need those deep thocky sound from sunflower. Guess I will wait till hands on my kbd76 lite r2. And testing few of each on my board myself to find perfect one. Great video as always btw 👍

Is it me or sunflower have more spring ping than u4t in stock?
@Keybored3 жыл бұрын
It might be due to the stock durock springs. the gold plated durock springs are very pingy unfortunately... Going to something like a TX or Sprit spring really helps with this!

which one would you say is slightly more tactile, sunflowers or u4ts?
@Keybored3 жыл бұрын
I feel like the tactility is almost the same... I think the U4T's scratch makes it feel like it might be slightly more tactile... but I like the smooth tactility of the Sunflowers better. But overall, these guys are soooo tactile that sometimes I have to swap to a linear switch board to relieve the fatigue...

I feel this isn’t a complete review, after having tried both the U4t’s and the sunflowers, one very huge downside to the sunflower is the insane spring ping, even after lubing. I appreciate your attention to detail on the aspects you did cover, but to not mention spring ping (which in my opinion makes a big difference in the perceived quality of a switch) is a disservice. That and I don’t really feel the U4t’s are scratchy at all, even unlubed.
@Keybored3 жыл бұрын
I swapped all of the sunflower springs out with 62g TX long springs eventually and took care of the issues. Durock springs in general are no good. Unfortunately, a lot of my U4Ts developed an odd chatter, so on top of the weird grittyness I get with mine, I had to retire a bunch of them away. Hope they can fix some of these issues.
@Meatsie3 жыл бұрын
@@Keybored Thanks for your reply, I may have missed it, but when you did the switch breakdown you didn't mention that you had replaced the springs in the the sunflowers, as a matter of fact you say that they are stock. Replacing the spring essentially makes this no longer a sunflower that the average person would be using in their board, again I feel this is a disservice to your viewers. I see you mention you have issues with the U4t's springs also, so why not make it a fair game and replace those springs as well? I just don't see how this is an accurate review, considering all of the above. I think you should be more transparent and equal when comparing switches, otherwise we are just watching your veiled review not knowing all of the details of how you've tested and modified just SOME of the switches.

Do you know of any switches that have a similar round tactility to the HPs?
@szchietzmane64363 жыл бұрын
Go make Holy Koala (Halo Stem + Koala/T1 Housing). I found it more satisfying than Holy Panda. Also, if you really like rounded tactility i suggest you to just stock up Halo stems and go experimenting with other switches' housing. Halo stems are the perfect stems in my opinion to make a rounded tactility switches. I also love Holy Boba (Halo stem + Boba housing)

@@szchietzmane6436 Hey thanks for the suggestions, i actually have 140 halo stems lying around right now, will see which combinations i like best :) Holy Bobas did seem a lot harsher to me than HPs but I will definitely revisit them

Yup! The glorious panda is another HP alternative. Anything with the halo stem or glorious stem will end up with a rounded bump :)
@szchietzmane64363 жыл бұрын
@@TheMegabam5 Harsher as in too much tactile? If yes then go with Durock T1 or Koala (both of these are the same), because they are a lil bit less tactile than HP but still tactile enough and still rounded. But i suggest you make Holy Koala too and then compare it to Durock Koala to see which one is your preference
@leem04013 жыл бұрын
If you want even rounder tactility that is top bump, Zealios is also a good candidate. Just few years back, people were comparing these switches saying HP has sharp tactility compared to Zealios but now HP bump is even considered round.

Tried these switches and the smoothness weirded me out. I'm not used to tactile switches being this smooth even lubed. The smoothness really makes the bump feel sharper than bobas. I think I still prefer bobas as they sound fuller and deeper. These kinda have a hollowness to them. The factory lubing is good so if you don't want to lube your switches, these might be a good option. Maybe they'll feel better after I break them in, but so far it's a bit too much for me.

I really like these switches, but I've found that to mellow out the tactile bump, I had to lube the bump -- something I generally try to avoid on tactiles. After lubing, they're excellent.
