If I'm not mistaken, Sega took a stance on this in an interview, they said they didn't know that hedgehogs get along well with water. But it ended up following this logic, because if not, the game would be less difficult. But echidnas are canon as great swimmers, but sega didn't adjust it to breathe longer underwater!

As someone who discovered the Knuckles Ending on his own before watching this video (as of now, I have the Exeller Ending, Tails Solo, Knuckles Solo, Sally Solo, Amy Solo, Cream Solo, Amy/Knuckles Duo, Amy/Tails Duo, and Tails/Cream/Sally Trio which adds up to 9 so far), I was shocked to see more Nightmare Universe connections with Chaos Hunter and the return of Exetior! I like how this ending also takes place after Exe Line 4 because rather than get angry at Exeller for his sharp tongue, he just lets it go. Oh, and the callback to Negagen wearing a dress was hysterical and I LOVE Negagen's expression because you can tell how much he wants to say, "Well f**k you too!" XD

@@SeniorSatoru It is a complex story, much more than your typical Sonic story, even most 3D titles don't have this much going on. But if you want a (hopefully) simpler version, here you go: Exeller constantly resets the timeline to address his anger problems and to deal with some prophecy. Hates children/teenagers and he wants to go back to the past? Yeah, Exeller is that grumpy old man who'd shout at you, "GET OFF MY LAWN!" Did that help or at least give you a small chuckle?

@@alejandroraad3163 So, I don't think there's any video with just the cutscenes, but technically, this story starts with JaizKoys' Nightmare Universe. Though the only parts that pertain to the "Spirits of Hell" universe are the fact that Exeller is a Highest (albeit a cursed Highest), he works under Exetior (though Exeller really doesn't like working with Demons at all, but hates the Highests even more), and Exeller meets with Exetior to go over stuff with a given task, as seen with his interactions in the Solo Tails Ending of Round 1 or the Solo Knuckles Ending of Round 2 (which has a Chaos Hunter cameo). However, you don't need to pay the Nightmare games to understand Spirits of Hell; only thing you'd miss is the fact that the Highests and Demons are at war with each other and it only really matters in the Nightmare Universe anyway. (spoilers incoming) Anyways, for the SoH story, I'll try not to overwhelm you, but it goes like this: Exeller is a cursed Highest who merely wanted to live his own life on Mobius by being its protector. However, one unfortunate incident after another, he'd end up being cursed by the King of the Highests and accidentally murders the King. Of his friends who remain, only Alice, the King's daughter and new Queen of the Highests, believes him to still be a good person. Exeller reads up on a prophecy that tells the tale of 6 individuals (Tails, Knuckles, Eggman, Amy, Cream, and Sally) who fight and defeat him, so he decides that to avert said prophecy and to keep his curse in check, he'd make those 6 and more people his victims either by slaughtering or tormenting them. Alice would be in charge of aiding these 6 by placing helpful Rings and getting them out of bad situations as well as resetting the timeline so Exeller could repeat the process with a different outcome. The timeline thing is meant to give story context to the "reset function" and is necessary because if not done, Exeller's curse will make him go into an uncontrolable rage and is also why he needs his victims to suffer and not just die. This also means thst canoncially, EVERY ending happens, though the characters will only experience deja vu and not truly remember any previous outcomes. In Round 1, it's just Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman who have to survive Exeller's traps, but Round 2 has the three girls AND the aforementioned trio surviving as well. If one of Amy or Cream die, at least one of the guys can still save themselves but if both die, Round 1's best ending is all for naught as Sally will be the sole survivor at that point and can still be killed. Cream is also a special case because Round 2 is where she meets Eggman's Tails Doll who was originally ordered to bring a Chaos Emerald to Aqua Lake and to stay away from "Sonic", but ran into Cream and protected her. And depending on Cream's actions, the Doll would become one of Cream's best friends due to her returning the favor or become a new enemy (you actually fight it in two of the game's endings) if she abandons it and gets subsequently cursed by Execun, a ghostly servant of Exeller who was made with his cunning and cold/calculated characteristics. To compare, his dog, Exebark was made with blind bloodlust in mind while the tiny Exebi was made with hypocritical mercy in mind. Were you able to get at least a small inkling of what I just said? It's okay if you didn't, these stories can get really complicated to the point that stuff like the Nightmare Universe stories make me think I'm Patrick Star when he has that plank of wood nailed to his head lmao.
