Having been going thru some of your older lessons recently, I was struck by how much they've changed over time. They're all great lessons, but your personality, sense of humor, joy in playing and happiness really shine through now! As we Americans approach Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for having Justin as my guitar teacher. Thank you so much!!

You are fantastic in how you show how to play this. I got the basics down in a little over an hour and with practice hope to get close to good. Thank you so much.

This is great Justin, the master teacher. One respectful suggestion for anyone learning this, in the chorus if you substitute the regular D7 for a Bar chord at the 10th and the G7 for a bar at the 3rd, they give you that great 'vampy' sound, especially if you keep lifting off and on, that Justin was talking about. It's better than the substitution in the video in my humble opinion. You don't have to awkwardly mute any strings and you get a fuller sound. Another happy bonus with barring at the 10th and 3rd is it's the same chord shape so you can switch easily (which makes me think this is what is in the recording). And to get to the 10th from the verse you can do a simple three note run down low E string (fifth, seventh and ninth fret) which takes you down the dusty end nicely.

Thanks Justin, you have a natural quality to teach and your lessons are enjoyable, picked my first guitar up last year at the age of 73 last ,struggling but hanging in with your help the hardest thing for me is not the chords and chord changes but picking up up the rhythm and getting the feel and accents of the song .sounds robotic if you know what I mean, Thanks mate !

I like the way you give the lesson. Just the right amount of explaining for someone who can already play some guitar. I've been playing the song for years, but I sing it in Am and haven't been able to do the full runs. (I'd need a baritone guitar with a low B string.) So guitar-wise, it seems that it's just gotta be in Dm to be fully correct, so I guess that with my lower voice I'm going to be stuck with not quite right guitarwork. Cheers.

Excellent lesson and superb playing. I always loved this song and thought it was very clever but the lesson shows just how clever the kinks were. This was a time when great songs were around but most followed a fairly basic chord and blues background. Great innovation from the Kinks. Now just gotta try and play it something like this !
