Yes, the charm of labor strikes! France at the moment is facing striking workers in the refinery sector, making it no wonder that there are gasoline shortages. Frustrating, but thankfully you did make home safely. Thank you so much for sharing your corner of the world with us. Today’s visit was, as always, lovely.

I just returned tonight from two weeks in France -mostly around Bordeaux and visiting the caves, enjoying Sarlat and the Perigord. You should make a coffee table book of your beautiful photos. I'm sorry that we didn't make it to your area, but my three visits to France will never be enough.

Allo (not sure of the spelling) Tigrette!!! So precious and so nice to hear that she is doing well. She certainly looks happy and healthy! Once again, thank you for your vlog Marloes. You are surrounded by such beauty and I LOVED hearing all the different bird songs. What a blessing that they are part of your everyday life. The linens on your bed at the sweet B&B were so beautiful. What a treat! It's great to see that you and your van are back home safe and sound. Look forward to your dessert :) ❤

I’m so glad to know that Tigrette and you are both home, safe and sound. I hate to hear about the gasoline shortages due to the strike that is going on. Hopefully you and yours will ride it out without too many difficulties or complications. Thanks for letting us have a peek into what is going on.

So happy that you have your van back and that it didn’t cost you all that money. The gas strikes are so crazy, they happened the day before I left for the US.

Hi Marloes, you can still find moulins de légumes in the shops. They're still used today for preserving etc. We bought one, I think it was, in Intermarché. Not expensive either.

Have you tried baking Quinces like baked apples? You can core and stuff the hollow with chopped walnuts mixed with brown sugar. But the trick is to serve them with sour cream and brown sugar because they are very tart.
@FrenchCountryLife2 жыл бұрын
No I’ve never tried that!

@@FrenchCountryLife Worth a try, if you like Quinces. Also, they have a lovely fragrance if just put in a bowl in the house as I recall.♥️

You have a beautiful home in a fantastic setting. The video in the beginning started off beautifully, then it got fragmented and there was no continuity. My husband always ask if you have a new video out and he is the one who noticed this. We watch you weekly and want you to do really well. Can you give us an update on your large kitchen update. Best Wishes from Texas.
@FrenchCountryLife2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting! There is no update on the large kitchen (other than what I showed at the end of the video). the builders have just returned and Olav still can’t really work because of his injury. I’m afraid it will take significant time before I can show any progress… it is what it is. I document my week, and honestly the lack of continuity just shows how scattered my weeks often are with so many projects happening and life happening as well 😉 I would personally love to only do make over videos but that’s unfortunately simply not what my life looks like

Not really for nothing in a different way: I had so many beautiful encounters with people I met (the taxi driver, the mechanic, the owner of the b&b) and truly grateful for that!

It must have been the check engine light. Mine has been "on" for four years now. Every now and then I get it checked out and they said the same time "the light will just go off". My mech. friend said the same to me. He also said that when some people do not close the "gas cap" all the way, this will trigger the "check engine light" as well. Still it was good you checked it out. Be careful with some garages as they take advantage of the lack of knowledge of some women drivers. Cheers.
@FrenchCountryLife2 жыл бұрын
Yes I know! It goes own for any little potential failure or issue. I would have just driven back home if I hadn't had my 11 year old with me. And you are so right, the garage definitely tried to take advantage of the situation but they didn't know I was raised by the biggest car addicts of all of The Netherlands! My grandfather had a car rental and driving school (the very first of the wide region) in the late fifties and sixties. My dad's goal was to have a daughter that they wouldn't be able to fool when it comes to cars and he taught me all I could possibly understand about cars and taught me to drive at 10 years old :) I sometimes pretend I know nothing just to see how a garage responds so I immediately know what I'm dealing with. The first 2 garages didn't appreciate that :) Luckily I was able to stay on top of this and found a reliable mechanic and saved 3000 euros of non necessary work on the van! Thanks for your support and sharing your thoughts, appreciate it!
