I am a 64 yr old educated white woman who grew up in Germantown, Philadelphia. Raised by a by a crazy single mom with my younger sister. We were poor. I am from Generation Jones, even though considered a boomer. I went through 5th grade in parochial school, 6th to 8th public. I went to MLK jr High in Germantown then Bichop McDevitt school in Wyncote for freshman yr. CA for 10th and part of 11th . Back to Philly for the other part of jr. Year in a parochial a school. Mom was a bit crazy while I graduated from public school in Roxborough High. Schools were just getting desegregated back in my early yrs. It didn't always go smoothly. My point is everyone's experience is different. My neighborhood was a rough neighborhood, but we are very adaptable creatures. The thing I was taught very early was no matter what I went through I was to rise above my circumstances and I was and am NEVER a victim.
