So I saw this video as a post on Reddit, and thought something like: "Oh cool, someone is making lore video on Endless Universe, and it's pt.4, so it's even something that's been going on. Exciting!" And then I pause the video immediately to check out the channel for other lore videos, and by the Lost, guess what I realised... I'm really happy that you are back and that you've found your loved one, got a child, and overall you fortunes seem to have improved! Looking forward to any new videos of yours, though take your time, not that you don't know it, but still!

I don't know how many humans are left but when you finished, could you make a video too the riftborn
@hasde_fo8 ай бұрын
Though they are very interesting, there are no much about their history. So far from the quest, they have somekind of goverment or orginized society in rift space. As I understood there no much happening there. Rift world described as very sudle and calme space where riftborns had no conflicts They were intelegent beings in mother womb. And their history starts in dust world

The origins and status of humanity in the Endless Space universe have gone through a lot of flux which unfortunately I don't think has ever been properly addressed. There were indeed a lot of retcons but you did an admirable job of trying to stitch it together into a single story. What I think has happened is that Jeffrey Spock has changed his mind about where humans come from in the Endless Universe at least twice, but never really admitted to it and tried to soft-retcon it each time. This is why accounts of the history and age of the UE are so convoluted and contradictory. I think there are three phases, three versions of the history of humanity and the UE in the Endless Universe: the very brief 'Terran Phase,' the 'Raian Phase,' and finally the 'Mezari Phase' that became the latest canon. When ES1 first released the descriptions of the UE and other factions indicated that all the other human factions (Horatio, Pilgrims) were branches of the UE. Further there were indications in certain hero biographies (Conan Forsythe) and faction bios (Pilgrims) that indicated that the UE was based in the "Terran Solar System." Combined with the Earth calendar dates for 3000 AD being used as turn indicators in ES1, it implies a lot. This was soft-retconned out though and references were scant and vague enough that it could be ignored. By the time of the ES1 artbook it was stated that the Empire was based on the planet Raia, but still implied that it was a very ancient and powerful government with ancient dynasties of emperors that Zelevas had usurped in recent times. Since now the implication was that Raia was the homeworld of humanity (with the UE still being the assumed root faction), materials produced after this tended to call humans "Raians." This I think explains the presence of "Raians" in Last Flight of the Grey Owl. It just means human, since Raia was the closest known thing to a human homeworld at the time. The Mezari were first introduced as a faction in Endless Legend but they were basically a reskin of the Vaulters in that game, with the explanation being that the Vaulters came from a Mezari attempt to colonize Auriga. With that in mind, DoTE is the only game actually set in the period of the old Mezari Empire and the best look we get at them. There's a lot in the newer lore to imply that Raia was settled by the same Mezari Empire that attempted to colonize Auriga. But at this time the Endless were already a long-vanished empire with ancient ruins on Auriga. Either the Raians in Grey Owl were just used as a synonym for "human" (implying that the species at least existed in the time of the Endless), or some other population that lived on Raia before the Mezari. I tend to think the former makes more sense. By the time we get to ES2 you see many humans casually referred to as "Mezari" rather than "Raian," as if this is being used as a species name now. The character Kinete Muldaur for instance is called a "Raian" in Isyander's wiki page for some reason, though her in-game hero bio calls her a Mezari. Also for some reason, the canonical history of the UE was shortened considerably for ES2. The references to ancient dynasties of emperors were long gone, even though Raia must have at least been settled however long that the Vaulters were on Auriga -- centuries, if not millenia. It is now said that the Raians regressed to pre-space age technology and had to re-develop. The Great Continental War is stated to be a recent conflict in which many of the current Imperial characters (including Zelevas) participated in. Its indicated that the Alliance of Nations won the war, but then Zelevas took over the Alliance with the help of Hadri Lenko. I'm guessing that Jeffrey Spock retconned the UE away from being ancient because it made more sense for an Empire just beginning its galactic expansion to be young and new. Sorry for going on and on like this. Its just that the problems with the Endless Universe's continually evolving history of humanity are hard to address without going over all of that.

The vaulters are descended from Mezari long before the Raians split from them. So their story doesn't lead back to Raia.

Endless Space 2 is a reboot of Endless Space though. There's clear differences in the lore that make the two settings incompatible. Especially around the Hissho.

I like to see the United Empire as the Imperials man of Warhammer 40K mix with our possible future only less religious and I'm impressed that there's many different human groups and factions in the endless universe usually in sci-fi or fantasy series that have like multiple races humans are always grouped in one faction but in the endless universe and I guess Stellaris as well depending on your Canon of your game there are multiple human factions which I think is pretty cool and reflects on actual human groups because people think we only have one culture identity Etc but in real life there are multiple human groups what their own identity culture and other stuff it's pretty cool kind of wish writers did it with alien or fantasy groups like yeah we might get two factions of the same type of alien or fantasy faction but they're usually similar and they're usually split into two that's it it's very boring and it's kind of a Trope at this point I just hope writers and creators can be a bit more creative with alien or fantasy races that are both human and nonhuman
