Intel made Thunderbolt FOR Apple because they were busy pulling the rug on their previous transfer protocol, which was also rug pulled from the previous. Apple's got a track record with this, and intel manufactures hardware for Apple. Meanwhile USB has existed the whole time, and is still on par. lol

He’s saying thunderbolt isn’t backwards compatible on PC. It is backwards compatible on Mac. I use Mac, but I purposely use USB, because of the backwards compatibility. I don’t see the advantage of thunderbolt when dealing with audio. That would be more for 4K video editing

@@-gbogbo- Latency isn’t a real problem. Your computer does the math and aligns the tracks so there is no latency. You monitor you instrument direct, before it goes to the computer. This is how it’s worked since the beginning of computer recording, or computer recording wouldn’t work at all. If for some reason you are hearing latency, it’s because something isn’t configured properly.

The difference is Thunderbolt is the replacement for PCIe. It's a different protocol that offers more access to the CPU directly. Universal Audio only uses it because it also allows for daisy chaining, thus creating a whole complete system with additional interfaces clocking together over thunderbolt. USB can handle Hi Fidelity audio up to 32 simultaneous signals, but of course that lessens with higher sample rates and no daisy chaining. RME uses USB, their hardware is top-tier. UA uses thunderbolt, their hardware is top-tier Edit: adding UA also uses the thunderbolt bus for processing its own plugins on the hardware instead of CPU, although this is (hopefully) being phased out with UADx Edit 2: USB 4 contains the Thunderbolt protocol, so we'll see how it all plays out in the future

​@@KC-bi9jw I agree with you 100% because I was doing what is now cost several grands with Sound Blaster Audigy 4 on Windows XP with direct moniting with FX and so many separating and routing options and now I still see Interfaces with RCA...? MacBook stream and Windows are buffering which is a Giant difference. MacBook will be always used in Live case scenarios without buzzing rippling noises and results of freezing. Mac is better bat we are in the age of the optimisation.

Naw. I’m no zealot but the Mac usually maintains music hw/sw compatibility better and deliver a lower latency at the platform level. We can talk more about this, but consider that all Mac HW uses Apple apis to access hardware but with Windows most use the ASIO spec (Steinberg not MS). Also the big thing for them dropping Thunderbolt compatibility is that a lot of times your interface is more than your PC. 😂

Not the same tone. But delivery for sure and I think the vocoder is hard to get past a lot of people sound like each other in a vocoder. Show me a Tupac or the Game before and after Aftermath. DMX or Xibit. Eminem. These voices are undeniable and would be a better test or I’m sure many others without a vocoder would be better for the accusation

How old is USB? USB 4, 3.1, 3, 2... All the way backwards compatible with USB1 spec (just need a C type adapter for USB4). Your reasoning about TB 4 being kind of old enough is nonsense. We have enough bad business practices and environmental issues as to make obsolete all those devices just because Intel does not do proper firmware keeping. Why they worked fine until NVM31? (On TB4 on PC) Why they work fine on MAC? (It can be done just fine with software management of devices) They already have a class action lawsuit against intel going on because of that same reason (not addressing firmware vulnerabilities), not related to TB, tho. Plus, the fact that Intel advertised at some point that TB4 was total backwards compatible with 1 and 2 and later on they just deceived those who saw those ads and took that statement off the TB website while they pushed NVM>31 is shady business AF. It is called false advertising, actually. So, the lazy way of fixing vulnerabilities is transferring their BS onto the consumers? Really? There are way too many options in a computer BIOS/UEFI that would make it absolutely vulnerable to any attack imaginable when an attacker is physically present. Why not giving the users that choice in BIOS if the fault is a DMA attack on thunderbolt options?
