LNS is actually a Swiss company, based in Orvin in the Jura mountains, the traditional home of small parts turning.

So it is common for people to lay lathes on their side in other countries I see. That Puma is very well featured. I want an old Warner and Swasey Titan CNC but they are now hard to find.

I guess some people like to experiment on different ways to install their machines!

Sunppaa, I vote for getting that old lathe back to working condition. Will it be financially feasible, maybe not. But, just the fun of solving the problems and the reward of taking something that is not useful and making it useful, how do you put a price on that. Keep up the good work! Let the chips fly where they may.

It will be interesting to see how quick you can fix that old lathe.It took me about a year to replace a broken brake lever pin on the turret mill.It gets to a stage where it doesn't matter how simple a job is just do it on the cnc machining centre and the manual machines get used less and less where you can avoid it.Does CNC's make us lazy?😉

You are right it is a bit of a worry.I have a small business and when I purchased my brand new cnc lathe was worried if I could pay it off easily and now I know it was the best decision I ever made because it makes 75 % of my earnings.You have to spend money to make money and to compete have to keep up with times.

@@mehmettemel8725 I am so happy for you - I'm assuming you are from Turkey, Mehmet and I know you have had a manufacturing engineering renaissance there - unless of course you are in another country - but I am always overjoyed to hear of a small business that is doing well - your family should rightly be proud to have such a entrepreneurial man in their midst - my very best wishes for your future.

@@mehmettemel8725 That has made me very happy as that is where I am and it's so great to hear of a successful small machining business after the total destruction of our motor car industry - I honestly thought all workshops of that type have been shuttered - I was sadly a beneficiary of the fire sale at scrap prices of all the machine shops and tool rooms associated with that industry - Mehmet I doubly take my hat off to you as the Aus machining workshop situation is practically survival of the fittest. congratulations my friend - please start a utube channel so I can see your work.

Toimiiko tuo mitta-anturi Doosanissa automaattisesti vai joudutko mittaamaan manuaalisesti sitä vastaan työkalut? Emcossa oli aikanaan koodilla tk-mittaus, todella näppärä kun hiffasi sen.
@sunppaa
@sunppaa 5 жыл бұрын
Toistaiseksi manuaalisesti, huoltoheppu tulee jossain kohtaa vielä käymään ja lupasi tuoda mukanaan päivityksen. Helpottaisi kyllä aika paljon!

I saw a used Doosan go for $120,000 which was the highest ever i think, for the particular site, can't remember if was an '09 or '12, but was 'recent'...have seen quite a few Doosans sell and much interest in them. the chip conveyor is UK, but is the machine made in asia or europe? When I see the mestizo hispanics working in Haas factory, I think "made in Mexico", but could be wrong...would inherently trust an asian or european made model more...have more faith in...

This model is made in South Korea at their main facility. Should be a well built machine. They also make some models in China and probably somewhere else too.

You said the machining instructor is German? I'd imagine his English is better than his Finnish. I would not be surprised if a tool sensor was an option on the Dainichi lathe considering how high end those were. And to have a motorised one is a real luxury; most of them are manual. The reason for the small program memory is due to the programs having to be run straight from the PLC.
