The fundamentals of smash feel like they are changing, suddenly playing good neutral seems like it's way less important than having a good punish game, which is kind of crazy, but makes some sense when you have characters like Steve and sonic which straight up don't have to play neutral at all if they don't want to

Ppl just got better and finally caught up to Leo it’s just more versatile now than ever. Ppl adapted and times change. Who knows the top players of ultimate might face the same fate with the next installment.

I definitely don’t think people caught up to Leo. I think Leo just stopped caring as much about the game than others. He was at the top for so long I think he eventually got bored and lost that drive and hunger to win that other players still have. Not that he doesn’t enjoy the game but after winning so dominantly for so long I think you eventually lose that massive hunger to win as much

The truth is People need to stop making excuses for players. Wow, as a young link main myself this game was absolutely intense to say the least, what an absolute banger of and ender... 😳 I feel like Supahsemmie is now becoming the best young link player, I don't see Skittles playing that much anymore sadly. But man, Supahsemmie's gameplay seems so optimal while being very consistent. I envy him 😅 Props to both players, Leo also played very well and I feel like he might not have much yink practice. Sad to see him lose as well.

@@cesaryelarodriguez440 yes I think so too now. Skittles imo knows more tech and does more creative stuff with young link but Supahsemmie seems like more of a fundies and optimal type player. Love watching his gameplay 👌🏻

There is no excuse for how Leo is playing. He lacks urgency and mixups. He is playing so predictably and without commitment. It’s especially noticeable with his Aegis, which he really needs to drop

Ya, MKLeo has really lost a LOT of skill. His character picks aren’t doing him any favors either. He needs to pick ONE character and stick with it only having a secondary for bad matchups. I’d love for him to try to REALLY learn Corrin or Marth idk.

did leo have like a traumatic brain injury or something? I dont think we've ever seen a #1 player fall off this hard in any smash game. Went from being #1 to regularly missing top 8s at regionals. Unreal.

Or...hear me out...he found other things he prioritizes over smash. I'm sure on his come up, smash was a focal point in his life (I think there's an article that mentions that he started smash originally to help out his family financially but don't quote me on that) but now he's transitioning into adulthood, smash may no longer be a priority for him anymore. He has a significant other to factor in and that in and of itself is a commitment not many people understand/realize. Honestly, he seems to be playing mostly to enjoy the game however he can and still compete in some regard given what he's got on his plate.

You act like other top plays don’t have girlfriends or wives either. When mango had a fucking child he didn’t drop off his ranking nearly as much if not at all. The fact of the matter is that Leo isn’t top 10 material anymore and it is what it is. He’s been surpassed because he doesn’t have the skill anymore. Talking about having a girlfriend is so cope. THOUSANDS of athletes and esports competitors have girlfriends and they don’t just become horrible at the game. The vast majority of the greatest athletes in the world had wives/girlfriends and even children

@@maddox9511 Brotha, first reread what I said because it looks like you're coming at this as if I'm giving him an excuse and I'm not. The FIRST thing I addressed was that he may not prioritize smash like he used to. Second, my point for bringing up having a significant other rings just as true because while other players seemed to have figured that out and how to balance that as you pointed out, from the looks of his results, it seems like he hasn't. Considering that seemed to be the biggest change that the world has observed from what he's revealed about his personal life, it isn't absurd to think that it could be related to that and that has nothing to do with "coping". He dominated the scene for what, 3-4 years and then he starts dropping results in virtually all aspects RIGHT after??? You brought up other players being seemingly unaffected by said inclusion of a S.O. and even having children, and yet he's the one top player that isn't thriving with a similar factor in his life - does that not speak volumes about what that may imply?? It implies that they STILL prioritize smash enough to continue working hard at the game, and it wouldn't be logical to assume that one's motivation to succeed at any level in any field/discipline is not directly related to prioritizing their focus on it. He only became the #1 player in the world for so long because of that dedication and although the majority of the scene has leveled up considerably in last few years, considering how far ahead of everyone he was during his dominance, it would be hard to imagine that the world closed the gap and eclipsed him so suddenly unless there were additional factors involved.

@@dingo9696 Brotha, that's something someone should ask him to know - like I addressed before, MkLeo may not care for smash like he did. There's no other reason to explain that because of how far ahead he was compared to the world for as long as he was - either everyone got the protagonist timeskip boost on roids OR he's practicing & focusing less on smash as a whole while everyone is still working hard and moving forward to improve and I'm inclined to think the latter is more likely. I only brought up the S.O. thing because nothing else has been revealed that could have any meaningful effect on his motivation. Clearly he's traveling like you said, has sponsors and whatnot. So what else could it be? The homie who defended you brought up other players being in a similar position regarding love lives and yet they aren't falling off - so we can infer that they must still prioritize smash in their lives and Mkleo doesn't seem to be doing that anymore.

Game dying? I mean I know Steve is an issue but Ultimate is in way better state than Smash 4 on its last year. Leo just doesn't want to play anymore but he is still trying to maintain his reputation.
